And regarding Sardar, I fully understand he's invited since there is no official "khodafezi". I guess as someone mentioned in earlier in this thread, he's invited, if he rejects now, then he will be gone, at least as long as CQ is head coach.

It seems like he hasn't joined the team. Interesting to see what CQ will do. Not so sure he will exclude him, but I certainly hope so!

CQ in the past has excluded people and has asked them to apologize publicly before they are invited again. I think with Sardar he is going to do the same.

Again, I hope so for the sake of consistency, but considering that CQ reacted very mildly to Sardar's initial announcement to quick the team, I am not so sure.

Honestly the only two players from Persepolis who deserved to make it were Alipour and maybe Nourollahi. I mean with depth in defense i don't see any chance for Ansari to make it and regarding to Jalal, even though i agree they should have behaved diffidently regarding to a veteran but who do you want to bench for Jalal? PAG or Hosseini?
I question some of his players selection(Montazeri, Masoud and few other who didn't play much this season or didn't play at all), but overall it was expected to be almost WC squad list.

dejagah i understand in the squad, more so than masoud. Masoud has just been objectively bad every time hes played for TM in the recent months and even years. Dejagah is always very good when he plays for TM, but obviously has fitness issues. Shekari showed vs Zenit he is ready for high level football. Plus we have ghoddos who should CLEARLY be out starting CAM now. Just no need for masoud.

the only argument left for Massoud inclusion in the AC squad is that he is still the most technically savvy and probably best dribbler in our squad..!? also Asian games are played at far slower pace and intensity than WC and the opposition quality pales in comparison..! so assuming he maintains his outmost fitness in the run up to games, then he could come in handy for us at AC..!!??
i still think Massoud shoulda bowed out personally after the WC and left on a respectable high note..!! if he struggles for us @ AC then he and CQ will face a good bit of tongue lashing from critics and fans alike..!!
SM may well be right in his assumption that CQ's extended stay with TM beyond AC must be very much reliant on him reaching the AC Final..!!? it sure looks like he picked his AC squad with that possible ultimatum in mind..!!? almost no risk and experimentation and very little surprises in at least his initial choices so far...!! i suppose IFF's miserable Failure to provide him with his desired preparation schedule also had much to do with carlos choices in this list, taking along only those players already familiar with his system of play and only throwing one new name in the LB/LW spot where we are lacking reinforcement badly..!

How many times have we poor tm fans had to hear the chant "Masoud boro biron" in the stadium? The fans have been saying it for 5 years. He should just retire and give Shekari a chance to shine.

I think Shojaei is really just there to provide leadership and experience. He has a good character/heart and a lot to pass on to younger players, something CQ appreciates

Look, I am not saying the realities are to be dismissed. I know when playing Spain, Portugal and the big teams, most of the world is going to be facing the gun rather than pointing the gun. CQ is a master at this. But...we know over the years, Arabs play antifootball, we know this is going to happen again as we have 2 such teams in our group. I do not want CQ to play a single minute of defensive strategy. Why the heck would you play sole striker against these teams as he has in the past. Go for it, let's not leave matches to the ref, antifootball, or even counter-attack style. Our style of play has never been this way, this is only CQ's strategy in the last few years. Do you or other members not recall 4-3 Korea? There was a time scoring 2 or 3 on Asian opponents was like drinking water for us it came so naturally. Now we win 1-0 or draw games. This is absurd as Asia is the weakest confederation outside of Oceania...and we are supposedly the best of this weak lot of teams!

I get what you are saying. I even have said if keeping CQ means winning AC who am I to argue. I just don't have faith that will happen and CQ just now cited my stated reasons for why we may fail.
