Now you see that the results of pre-wc friendlies aren't that important. Saudis played good against Germany and Italy and got slaughtered by Russia. Russia's last win was 9 months ago....

Totally agree. The quotas for the 2022 and 2026 WC's are already set and it doesn't matter how well or crappy AFC teams do in this tournament, nothing's gonna change.

And with the new super-extended format, we're pretty much guaranteed a spot in every WC going forward so whether AFC gets more spots, it makes no difference to us.

But 2026 will be very different; 48 teams. 8 for asia!!!! 3 teams in each group (with chance for collusion in group stage as the 2 teams facing each other can draw and get themselves qualified) . unfortunately from 2026 on, i don't see how world cup and especially qualifying games keeping their current excitement!!!

Honestly I live in north America and North and central should have no more than 4 slots max!! Just not enough countries and talent for them to have 6!
