Morocco didn't get it because FIFA needed to move to a 48 team system. The North America bid was the perfect situation for it.

Horrible decision. World Cup 2026 with 48 teams will be start of decline of popularity of the World Cup.
It will never have the same prestige and love.
Ruined just like the Olympics.
Also interesting how the Arab countries basically stabbed Morocco in the back and campaigned for the United bid...

France 98 was the first time there were 32 teams. Before that it was 24, and it wasn’t increased to 32 Iran likely would not have qualified. By increasing it to 32, countries like Iran got to experience the World Cup and the “popularity” increased. There’s no reason increasing to 48 won’t do the same thing. It may suck for teams like soain and Germany but it will mean the world for teams that wouldn’t otherwise qualify, like us in 1998.

For that same reason, Israel and Palestine are already considering co-hosting the 2030 World Cup!!!

Relax. Morocco is in no position to host a 48 team tournament. Not even close to enough infastructure. The fact that it is safer than Mexico doesn’t change that fact. Mexico is only hosting 10 group stage matches anyways.

On a more serious note, holding the WC in such a large territory is just RETARDED! All the people who saw the 3 matches in Brazil know how cumbersome and tiring the logistics was and those of you going to Russia, you already know it's a logistical nightmare.

This one is going to cover territory 5 to 7 times that covered in Brazil and Russia!!! you're gonna watch a game in Montreal and then take a 5.5 hour flight to Mexico City or LA to watch the next match?!

You could have had all of Europe, ME, South East Asia or North West Africa host the WC and it would have been less travel time and much more inclusive and like a "World" Cup. Absolutely retarded!

Just thinking of the travel costs and time required to actually follow a team (only guaranteed 2 games... its absurd). You might as well take a nice Caribbean vacation at a 5 star resort.
I can already see Canadian and American hotels, car companies, airlines milking it for all its worth.
