They gave us CQ for 7 years. Like it or not, the economy in Iran is only getting worse. Anyone thinking we will get anything close to the semblance of a professional coach following CQ is dreaming.

I appreciate that you're excited for CQ to leave because you think we can get reputable coaches in Iran easily, Hoorad jan, but that's not the case. The hiring of CQ was the exception, not the rule in TM's coaching history.

If you knew that the real options following CQ are Ali Daei, Schaefer, Bronko, and possibly an unknown like Alexander Nouri, you would be clinging onto dear life for CQ to stay like the rest of us.

CQ is not perfect, and some here may not enjoy his tactics, but he is likely the only coach with a respectable resume we will ever get. We are crazy if we think IFF wants TM to succeed in Russia, as their failure would allow the CQ experiment to end, and for TM to go back to hiring this generation's Mayeli Kohans/Ghalenoeis, if not actually hiring those two guys. The future is dark after CQ leaves, and I think wanting him out faster is not reasonable given this information.

If we had a modern league with a competent government that wasn't destroying the country's reputation or pouring money and resources into wars and censorship campaigns while neglecting its people - nevermind its sport - then maybe we could complain, but face the reality: we are punching way above our weight under CQ. Think about how many problem positions we had 8 years ago, 4 years ago, and compare them to now. There are still problems and questions - there always will be - but there are far fewer.

Iran's central training facility was just completed this year under his guidance and recommendation; the team finally has a modern bus to travel with; the team has lots of players playing in Europe with even more on the way.

We don't have the huge swaths of diaspora in the player pool to pick from like Algeria / Morocco / Turkey, nor the diplomatic relations with most of the world that neighbors like India or Qatar have, nor the beaurocratic and corporate competence of even the decrepit easern European countries. We have to pray all of our retired players become great coaches or scouts or incredible businessmen to save our talents or our league, that is our reality.

I know this, I said it in my post. Literally the first sentence is talking about why IFF will NOT have the ability to simply offer CQ's contract to another option. Every option suggested thus far has 1 thing in common... they're cheap. Heck Daei can likely coach the squad for free!

If we somehow get out of the group, you can damn well bet CQ will be renewed. IFF wouldn't have any other option.

In the more likely event that we can't escape this extremely difficult group, IFF will not make the same choice to deal with a foreigner that will repeatedly call them out for their insufficiencies.

No matter what, we will have a kiss-ass as our next coach. Whether that be Daei, Schaffer, Bronko, etc. Anybody thinking we will get anyone of reputation to come to Tehran willingly, let alone IFF actually agreeing to have another go-around with a coach that demands improvement is sorely misguided.

I 100% would love a world class coach to take the reigns and improve on CQ's foundation. Do you really believe that would happen? It doesn't make logical sense, but I guess you and others can be unhappy now and have major regret later when this obvious outcome happens.

We will not swap out CQ for another good, outspoken coach. We will either get a kiss-ass, or a nobody, or both. There is no good coaches wanting to coach Iran, or one that IFF will want to deal with exposing their shitiness like CQ has been doing.

I think the people hoping a reputable coach will come to Iran forget that there is a thing called the internet and communication which allows any potential coach to see how CQ has been treated during his tenure with TM. Seeing how fans will want you gone after a friendly loss after a record breaking qualification, how he is seemingly always behind on pay, and how he has to fight tooth-and-nail for even the most basic improvements is something I'm sure any coach will be happy to deal with!

Really, can anyone with a straight-face say they really believe that reputable coaches believe that Iran will be an easy paycheck? We have immense talent, and should be a dream team for coaches looking to coach a team with huge potential, but any rational person can see that all of the potential cannot be unlocked when you have to buy your own template jerseys, and have to get third-parties to arrange your friendlies, etc. Would Klinnsman, for example, be able to improve TM any further than CQ? Maybe another coach will bring a little more attacking than CQ's style, but making us a consistent contender against the world's elite? Not going to happen given the current situation with IFF and Iran.

Iran have their most exciting attacking talent since Daei, Bagheri and co. and the best coach since who knows when, but that doesn't mean they're now automatically better than the weakest side in their World Cup group.

A regular Iran side of, say, 2006 or 2010 would be heavy favourites to lose against Morocco. A stronger Iran side of today has a good chance of drawing and possibly winning, absolutely.

Again, compare the squads, and even just look at the betting odds. Neutrals will tell you if anyone's favourite to win, it is Morocco. That's realism. No one is saying Iran are definitely going to lose, though.

Because of the way the draw is, unless Iran get a shock result against Spain or Portugal, you're basing Carlos' success on just one game in 7 years, which on any day could have any result, and it's a match with a key player suspended too. And it's forgetting all his previous results.

Iran are at only their 4th World Cup EVER, they had NEVER even kept a clean sheet until Nigeria 4 years ago, under Carlos (and nearly again against ARGENTINA). They have only ever beaten one team, 20 YEARS AGO. A draw with Morocco wouldn't be terribly exciting, but it would realistically be a good result for a team that usually isn't even at the World Cup (never mind qualifying with 9 clean sheets in a row!!)

If you want Iran to be the next Portugal or Netherlands, it's not going to happen, at least not without their level of infrastructure, league quality and most importantly coaching. Carlos himself has tried to sort this, such as getting the amount of teams in the league reduced to create more competitiveness.

Imagine how much Iranian players have learned under Carlos. To the point that even if he was replaced, they would still be doing good things that he taught them, and passing it on. This is the slow build to a better team, not a quick fix.

Klinsmann loves the good lifestyle. He wouldn't ever touch the dictatorship Iran. Nor would his family.

Halilhodžić is a mad dog. He wouldn't last with IFF more than a month. I mean he couldn't even last with Japans football federation. In comparison CQ is a diplomat.

Sabella retired from coaching. He is not going to return for Iran.

Le Guen and Schäfer are the most realistic ones. For once Iran has some decent coaches for IPL standard, why should we take schäfer? Let him be at Esteghlals helm. And Le Guen... puh. CQ is a much better coach.

Hmmmmm what about Omid Namazi? To be clear I don't believe he is NT coach worthy yet but isn't it suspicious after an abrupt departure from Iran...stints as a coach in the US he is now back taking charge of an IPL team? Maybe people in IFF think he can provide a smooth transition from CQ?

And don't forget once the PEC center was built, it was given away to a certain someone's wife to turn into her own business, and CQ had to wrestle it back from them and return it to the national team! It was during this ordeal that this certain someone came to the PEC building and physically assaulted a female employee in front of several witnesses and the police were called to the scene! But apparently you can't mention that person here so I'll just leave it at that!

Just know that CQ's services to Iranian football go far beyond gameplay improvements. And he had to fight for them every step of the way against one of the most corrupt systems in the world.

The only type of foreign coach that can work long term in that system is a charlatan like Branko who doesn't care what happens as long as he gets his paycheck. Schafer at least keeps talking about organizing the Esteghlal youth academy and complains about the delays. That Branko character couldn't care less, which is why the system loves him.

- Friendlies are for trying out new players and new systems that may be needed in emergencies or as a plan C or D. He has played many new players in a large amount of friendlies now qualifying is over. Asian qualifying and World Cup finals are so different in quality and approach that you need different systems and players.

- He literally called up 2 goalkeepers with nearly 0 appearances between them instead of Haghighi, dropped Jalal who has 116 appearances and is 36 in favour of Majid who had 0 and is 21, and called up Gholizadeh. He's lowered the age drastically.

- Iran had never even kept a clean sheet in a World Cup before 2014, only their fourth ever appearance, and have only ever won one match, 20 years ago. And you're complaining about matching Argentina and getting a decent point against Nigeria? And 1/4 final in the Asian Cup is par.
