why is it a list of 21? We will be taking a squad of 25ish to the actual tournament... I assume Taha, Noorafkan, Namdari, Allahyar, Mohebi , Ghaedi will all be on that final list.

Estili said ,since it's just for one game against Olyroos ,21 players is enough.
Aussie squad is 22 but they are there for 10 days.

Mohebbi, Sayadmanesh, Noorafkan, Mohammadkhani are not available now . Ghaedi had injury .

They all will be included in the next training camp
list is subject of change as PGL progress and this list mean little.

I know that we are probably screwed bc of bad management, coaching in the last 1-2 years preparing for this (although the uzbek and aussie freindlies are good ones, I think we also played Iraq recently as well right?), but what do you think of potential xi's st mark jan? Regardless of what people say there is a LOT of offensive firepower in this potential team, especially physically gifted players that could give many teams a run for their money at this level.

                        ---------------------Esmaili------------------

                        Aghajanpour----Taha----Gholami-----Jalali

                        -------------Noorafkan/Khodabandelu---------------
                        ----------Shekari--------------Shojaei

                        Delfi/Mehdikhani------Allahyar------------Mohebi

Other options : Ghaedi, Namdari, Hosseinzadeh, Jabireh, Sharifi

Do you think something like that is reasonable lineup? Also, interesting that Mohammad Sharifi from that great u17 is finally called up to Omid. I have followed him slightly for a while, he has a good engine and is good box to box mid who can score and provide a lot of energy, but is physically not matured yet, do you think he could start for this team? Or maybe mroe likely be a bench or rotation option?

Khodabandelu was probably the best player at asian games and seemed a good defensive midfielder for sure, any update on his progression?

I think that Allahyar and Mohebi will return to this Omid team sooner or later and be starters, the question is should they be joined by Delfi, Jabireh, or Mehdikhani in attack?

This team has enough weapon up front and the midfielder is not bad either. The issue is the defense and keeper.

agreed. As with any team, we need coaching staff to maximize our strengths (balls to mids, and getting them to give balls into space for fast powerful fwd line, and getting balls wide and getting good service into middle), and minimize our strengths. The role of defensive midfield will be very important bc noorafkan and khodabandelu can do a god job there at this level, and ali shojaei can also provide good defensive cover. they need to ensure fragile d line doesnt get exposed on counter attacks. In terms of the defensive personnel, I dont think there are any standout guys...Taha could have been but he is still not back in top shape following his bad acl injuries. If estili had a brain he would pick 4 defenders, and just give them game time together from now until the tournament so they can at least build some chemistry and continuity.

                              .

Dear , It's a very good line-up. I have changed my mind about khodabandelo, Base on his recent games , he has regressed and his slow reactions and immobility hurt the flow.
Against passing games of Uzbekistan and Korea we can't just rely on offence. Our defence line is weak and not improved with rotating same players. Gholami, Aghasi, Dorreh makes serious mistakes in every game they play . Shariati has not fully recovered and not as strong as we expect him to be. Our team is not balanced talent wise
There is still time to improve defence line, Our full backs are very average, not strong or sharp as Koreans.

We have reasonable chance to advance from our group, should we play wise & up to our potential.
Estili should experiment using Mohebbi behind Allahyar , he may be more dangerous there.
Shekari has not played for a while unless he is ready best is to use Hosseinzadeh. He run more, pass more, score more.
Estili should not pay attention to the names of players but play whoever is game ready.

We are better than Uzbekistan despite two embarrassing defeats.

Australia play 4231 similar system as Uzbekistan. We shall see how our defence play on Tuesday.

One reason we lost to Uzbekistan 1:4 was our formation and spread.

Broken , non-functional 4123 , porous and leaky defence line

                              Gholami- Shariati-Noorafkan-Jalai
                              Zamehran
                              Mohebbi- Mehdikhani
