Occasionally the packed Azadi has reversal effects on our teams. It’s mainly due to our players being overly emotional and nervous.Originally posted by Ali Doust View PostEmbarrassing to see Esteghlal play it's weakest game of its campaign in front of 100,000.

Once Thiam went out Esteghlal’s offensive structure broke down and Al Ain controlled the game throughout the majority of the second half. Esteghlal had a few highlights here and there but ultimately it wasn’t enough. Getting a 1-1 isn’t a bad result and it could’ve been worse.
Al Hilal is pretty much out unless they beat Al Ain in their next match. Esteghlal still has a big chance to make it out of their group. They play Al Rayyan at home and a win would secure them a place if Al Ain draws or loses vs Al Hilal.

Esteghlal has 2 major problems which Schaeffer needs to address and Im sure he knows both:
1) Inability to finish except Thiam. Careless hol holaki zarbe akhar in front of goal.
2) Immediately retreating into our own half as soon as we score. I believe this mentality has been instilled in the team from Mansourian days and its very hard to get out of it.
if esmayili, ebrahimi, jaber or ghorbani had scored their shots from 2 meters, we would have still won. but too careless upfront unfortunately. the group is still wide open and any 2 teams can still go through with 2 games left.Last edited by yashar_fasihnia; 03-12-2018, 11:07 AM.

Even with Thiam the game plan was no good. They were rushing plays which was causing them to make too many bad passes. Players were running into each other, bad positioning. Overall it was one of the weakest if not the weakest performance under the Schafer reign.Originally posted by teammelli91 View PostOnce Thiam went out Esteghlal’s offensive structure broke down and Al Ain controlled the game throughout the majority of the second half. al hilal still has a good chance to qualify (if they win both games). no reason for them to hand any game right now.Originally posted by naderb94 View PostAl Duhail winning was great news for Zobahan. They are still 3 points clear for 2nd place.
Esteghlal is in a must win situation next week against Al Rayyan. Hilal might hand the game to Al Ain

It was already broken the moment they scored the penalty. SS was already in Ultra defensive mode when he was on the field.Originally posted by teammelli91 View PostOnce Thiam went out Esteghlal’s offensive structure broke down and Al Ain controlled the game throughout the majority of the second half.
