The first part is correct, but nevertheless we got a great coach who is with us for a long time, sufficient friendlies and a squad that is second to none in Asia. The currently poor facilities for youth players don't make Azmoun, Jahanbakhsh and Pouraliganji worse than what Japan & Co. have on the field. I agree we could be even better, but nontheless we have the best player material in my eyes. Is that a guarantee to win? No, but the chances are high and for me we should have a winners mentality this time, not the underdog mentality, even when deploying a more passive game approach against the other top teams from Asia. I still expect us to go to semis, hope for the final and dream of victory. If we go out before semis, it's a failure. If we lose to eg Japan in semis, ok, that can always happen.Originally posted by persiangodfather View PostJapan australia and south korea have amazing training facilities major support from their federation and many more players in europe then we have. Now add in the fsct that we have too many injuries. We are clearly the under dogs

Latest video of afternoon training session today (Friday 12/28/18). Important points:
1- Sardar was in great shape and trained with a lot of energy
2- We see ARJ training with several others in the beginning, that's a great sign
3- CQ had a lot of energy and had individual points for every player this caused them to train with a higher level energy too

Fun fact: While Iran is the tallest team in the tournament, Yemen and Vietnam are the shortest.

I think this in a nice and funny way sums it up “The tallest squad at the tournament is willing to go all the way based on their strength and sheer passion for winning.”
I believe too much is written into our injury “crisis”, we have always spoken about the fact that no one’s place is safe under CQ and there are a couple of players for every position. Even if we miss out saeed, JB and Gholizadeh, the likes of Torabi, Ghodos and norrolahi should cease the opportunity and excel. Yes they will be missed but there’s strength deep in this squad with unquestionably the best manager in the tournament.
