Algeria is going through a really bad run of form. They were really poor throughout qualifying, but that would be an interesting match nonetheless.
I want a friendly with Iran or Japan. Would you lot consider your NT as the strongest Asian team? I want Asian opposition in preparation for Saudi Arabia. Are they your direct rivals?

Defensively, we are the best squad in Asia. Offensively, I say Japan and Iran are pretty even. But back to defensive, I'm not joking when I say we are really good.. Like a top 10 defensive nation.Originally posted by kastro View PostAlgeria is going through a really bad run of form. Offensively we are better than japan as well ( in terms of players ). They have Asano, Osako, Haraguchi , we have Jahanbakhsh, Azmoun, Ghoddos/Taremi. I would take our guys any day. Much more physical, and all with a different range of styles, whereas japan's current attacking guys are all very similar.

Yes, consistently we've been the pest Asian team in the past 5 years.Originally posted by kastro View PostAlgeria is going through a really bad run of form. They were really poor throughout qualifying, but that would be an interesting match nonetheless.

We're far less defensive than 4 years ago and now have a decent counter attack.
Saudi are our top rival, but they play nothing like us.
I don't think we play similar to any of your opponents to make it worthwhile as a friendly for the Pharaohs.

We have never played Japan or Iran - so I'd welcome the geogrpahical disparity when it comes to competiton. We played South Korea away a few years ago and beat them quite comfortably. Inarsenewetrust, I remember their players being weaker in 50/50 challenges, so I can imagine Japanese players being quite similar.
As for Saudi Arabia, that result is completely in our hands.

you guys have quality to demolish saudi, and you will. As long as you dont buy into their mind games and grass rolling, There is no way they have enough quality to get past the likes of Hejazi, Elmohammady in defense, Elneny in defensive midfield. They have some fast players and that is it. On the other end, their defense is shocking and I am sure Salah will score a few, and if you guys have a center forward who is good in the air, that will screw them as well . Overall a shitty team.Originally posted by kastro View PostWe have never played Japan or Iran - so I'd welcome the geogrpahical disparity when it comes to competiton. iran drew egypt 1-1 in LG Cup in Tehran back in 2000 and Iran B defeated Egypt 2-1 in 1975 Iran Cup but because Iran was B team not counted as A international. So Iran and Egypt in head to head are 1 draw.Originally posted by kastro View PostWe have never played Japan or Iran - so I'd welcome the geogrpahical disparity when it comes to competiton. Team Melli to play 2 games in Qatar in March, then possibly a camp in Greece followed by another camp in Austria where Team Melli will play 2 more matches there, a game in Russia before the World Cup and a closed-doors game in Tehran.
So based on this I guess the games will be: Peru in Qatar, Algeria in Qatar/Austria, Greece (away), Uzbekistan in Tehran, my other guesses will be Tunisia, Croatia and Romania/Bosnia-Herzegovina. Let's see what happens.

2000 is certainly a long time ago. Finding highlights of that match is probably hard to come by I imagine. We probably have our strongest ever squad at the moment.Originally posted by rooyintan View Postiran drew egypt 1-1 in LG Cup in Tehran back in 2000 and Iran B defeated Egypt 2-1 in 1975 Iran Cup but because Iran was B team not counted as A international.
