Sadly I feel like its going to be a domestic team from Sierra Leone.

It has to be, it's Non FIFA day. So it clashes with European league fixtures.

Actually Sierra Leone is an excellent non fifa day friendly, and one I would honestly take over Libya

Sierra Leone NT has a lot of very pacey and strong players... Kamara is also a pretty good striker for the Whitecaps and they most of their forwards start on Swedish league teams.. Also have one guy in the Saudi league

None of them will play against us though, since it's outside the international calendar and their clubs won't release their players.

Btw. looking at their squad, they only consist of legionnaires.


I'm not sure how their local team can challenge our players.

Well we need to understand that we have all consciously and subconsciously accepted the gross mediocrity of IFF and Iranian management in General, to say Sierra Leone is a 'good' replacement for a crappy Libya, is like saying spoiled food is better than rotten food! Im not dissing anyone here, so pls pls dont get offended, Im just saying that a few of us, ( me included) have accepted what we are and what we have and are just happy to see our TM play ANYBODY!!! We have completely lowered all our expectations, as IFFs incompetence is incredible, they as well as 98% of our leadership and people in decision making positions in Iran are all idiots! 100% pure unadulterated idiots! Iran as a country has suffered enormously under such dismal mismanagement, our football(TM and clubs) should be ranked top 10 with the wealth we have ( both human and financial) we should have teams pushing and shoving to play us, we should have kit manufacturers killing to get a deal with our federation, we should have coaches battling each other to manage our teams , we should have AFC eating out of our hand, but sadly we have NONE of this.
We have no kits, no real quality preparation no other coach other than CQ willing to coach us, and now we have Sierra Leonne! .....

Nothing that you said above is wrong as a matter of fact I'm in strong agreement with you.....but, to expect us to play against a real strong team on a non FIFA day and for our Iran based players would be silly let alone the extremely short time frame we had to find another opponent. This is definitely a win for the IFF to find a speedy replacement I'll remind you that before the Taj era when games got canceled that was it. Rarely did we have replacements and actually in this case it's a replacement that is at the same level as our initial opponent. With all due respect eeroni I always enjoy your posts and agree with you but you're missing the point of these friendlies IMO

Depends. Some of them play for lower league European teams, they might allow them to play. If not, they will just use it as a training session to work on things. We have Tunisia and Algeria lined up, so it's better than nothing.

After our 2014 WC qualification till the start of the WC in Brazil , TM only had 4 preparatory friendlies
This time around we will have 12 friendly games in total by June 15 and much better training periods and camps
let’s not forget that as messed up as IFF is , this time they have done a very good job for our TM

Let’s give credit to IFF for finding a replacement for Libiya in such short time.

All of other TM’s friendlies have all been set and contracts have been signed.

A big thumb up to Taj, Saket and company for being such capable people in comparison to our past IFF officials.

So you are telling me out of 197 registered FIFA countries only the ones ranked 97-99 are available to play Iran( ranked top 40) on a non FIFA day??!! sure, Again we accept mediocrity and make excuses for it....

No. Out of 197 registered countries, no one with higher rank than 97-99 is desperate for a friendly enough to want to play a game on a non-Fifa day, as we are.

The fact that Taj and company could actually find a replacement in the same level as Libya is in itself an improvement from the past. but yes, after this WC, all our expectations get higher but that is because of the good work of current IFF officials.
