Johan Cruyff got me interested in the game in world cup 1978 as a kid. After the revolution I didn't follow soccer until 1986 world cup and Maradona was the reason.

Did you mean 1974? Cruyff didn't play in the 1978 World Cup.Originally posted by kia View PostJohan Cruyff got me interested in the game in world cup 1978 as a kid. Romario-Bebeto combo was so exciting and deadly for any opposition. I am still puzzled why these two were not given much game time in 1990. Both were superstars in 1988 Olympic Games. Brazil 1990 was only winning games narrowly and against Maradona and co lost and got eliminated. Careca who was Maradona's team mate in Napoli was their main striker, he was good but Romario was something else. Valdo and Muller were not very good strikers in my opinion, I think in 1990 they should have used Romario-Careca upfront and Bebeto behind. Anyways Brazil 1994 was one of my favourite teams of all times, although I must say I was a Germany fan and 1990 West Germany to this day is still my favourite, although I must say that since 1998 I have been supporting Spain, so yeah 2010 World Cup I was very happy.Originally posted by Nokhodi View PostInternational - Romario & Bebeto - World Cup 1994
Iranian - Ali Daei & Khodadad Azizi - Asia Cup 96
I have vague memories of Asian Games 1990 but I can't remember anything clearly.
Daei-Azizi one of the best partnerships in Iranian Football history. Taremi-Azmoun has been good so far too. Pity in 2006 & 1978 Iran did not have good striking-partnerships, talented strikers but did not combine well.
Actually you know I always have enjoyed African teams as well specially Cameroon 1990, Nigeria 1994, 1998 & 2014, Senegal 2002, Ghana 2006 & 2010. I hope senegal does well this world cup.

I had two Maradona. I remember me and my brother were so obsessed with our collection that once we found out a neighbour of my grandpa had an English player "Sansom" we traded our 2nd Maradona for him, he was very happy as it was a good deal for him and the trade was to me-and-my brother's disadvantage. Sadly I heard that my youngest brother lost our entire collection. Me and my other brother are so unhappy that we lost our many years of collectionOriginally posted by Ali Doust View PostDIEGO MARADONA
As a little boy in Iran we used to buy gum which came with pictures of Football superstars and if you got Maradona it was like landing on gold.
Our collection was really good we almost had all the star players Zico, Maradona, Rumminige, Voller, Schumacher, Sanchez, Platini, etc... this was the 1986 WC series, all the quarterfinalists Argentina, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Mexico, Soviet Union, England, France. I think if we had collected team photos and some additional players our collection would have been complete.

Daie, Abedzadeh and Mahdavikia for sure they were the face of TM football in the late 90s/early 2000s when I first started watching. However I didn’t follow them much as a child until the 2006 WC that’s when I really invested as much time and energy as I do in my New York Knicks as I do into TM
Team Meli Iran
