Branko has had a great year with PP and a great ACL run, this result doesnt change that. They were too open but we cant deny they missed 4 key players and were adversely affected by the whole taremi saga.

Branko is the best coach in the PGPL and probably will remain so for a very long time. Lets not kid ourselves. He made PP into a young, energetic team with good talent that have a clear game plan and are usually great to watch, especially for iranian club standards. They dominated AL ahli with 10 men, so we cant take this result without considering that.

I disagree, I think he is the same level as GN.
GN is an awful coach, but somehow he won the asian champions league and was runner-up once.
He also had ridiculous decisions and bad relationships with people. The key point is that Branko, through many facets, had more of a long-term negative impact on TM than GN did. Branko stifled development at a time when we were having a lot of potential talent coming through.

Im hoping for a PERSEP comback in Oman. But at this stage seeing Aliens on the white house lawn is more likely.... Even is we lost 2-0 we could have come back , but AL Hilal ensured that Persep is shut out, unless we get an early goal and they get a man sent off....

Branko is better than like GN or any other Iranian coaches, but that doesn't make him a good coach either. He coached like an amateur one yesterday, specially after having a man advantage. This wasn't acceptable at all, i can deal with allowing 2 goals because of having few players missing but allowing 2 more, having a man advantage is not acceptable by any mean. He coached like those clueless IPL coaches yesterday and he have done that in past in TM quite few times as well. That is actually his limit: Good for PGPL only!

A young Syrian player scored three goals on Al-Hilal's side. He also plays for his country's national team and scored against Qatar. Australia might have their hands full during the WC playoffs.

Yeah I agree Khribin and Al Soma may cause some problems for Australia. However, Australia is one of those teams that usually loses the matches it should win, and wins the matches that they should lose (or have problems in). They make it harder for themselves, and they usually prevail. They have a lot more experience, but Syria is a bit unpredictable. Should be interesting.

Guys, I know a lot of you mean well and are patriotic young people.

But I think it is actually quite disrespectful to put a jobsworth jabroni like Branko in the same sentence as any other Croatian coach (and we have had a lot of great ones) or especially someone like CQ.

Branko is the tier of Ghalenoi. But worse than that because he made a lot of long-term decision for TM which harmed the national team, I believe, for a decade afterwards.


The Branko effect for TM.

- SPINELESSNESS: Sticking with one goalkeeper (Mirzapour) who was error-prone, and not even giving a chance to test other alternatives, and there were a few (contrast with CQ). Not altering his tactics and game plan, and keeping with the same formations/line-ups for every damn game. He just didn't want to experiment and try different players, he didn't like any chance. We had a series of very feeble performances in the 2005-early 2006 period but NOTHING was changed after them, and he had a lot more new talent at his disposal than his predecessors (remember poor Pourheidari who had a midfield of Fekri, Navazi, Halali to pick from)
- OUTSIDE INFLUENCE: Branko let himself be influenced too much by player agents such as Reza Fazeli who was in the TM camp for the World Cup, and we all know that it affected the team spirit. He also let Daei dictate matters far too much in terms of team selection.
- TEAM SPIRIT: Our team spirit was the worst for WC06 when players were even refusing to pass to each other, let alone speaking with each other (contrast with CQ and the tight-knit unit he has built)
- TACTICAL NONSENSE: After finally bringing Bayern Munich's Hashemian back into the fold, he pushed him out to the wing (absolute no man's land) to accommodate a stagnant Ali Daei, who was playing 90 minutes for every game, not even subbed out for young strikers to get a chance to get some game time.
- TROLLING: Bringing Khatibi back to TM, starting him and Enayati. Khatibi was a constant source of frustration, the worst finisher we have ever had internationally, how he had so many caps no one can explain (well, apart from Branko and Khatibi's agent at the time Fazeli probably).
- POOR TEAM SELECTION: I tend to understand or agree with pretty much every time that CQ picks, or at least accept the choices. When we had more talented players, I never understood why Branko picked Badavi, Alavi, Kameli Mofrad, Khatibi, Sattar Zare. He had a favoured group of players who he stuck with, who were worse than a number of their peers in IPL.
- OGHDEH - Falling out with his prized player (Mobali) when the latter refused to move to Dynamo Zagreb in 2005. At the time he was the only two-footed playmaker apart from Karimi and he was player of the year in IPL at the age of 21. He was just dropped after Branko's lajbaazi.
- STIFLING DEVELOPMENT - We had, at the time, arguably our brightest crop of aged 18-22 youngsters who all looked very talented (Kazemian, Mobali, Borhani). They weren't given enough playing time internationally to develop and ended up dwindling, as the coach just kept playing the same people for 90 minutes regardless of how they performed (contrast with CQ)


We have had some fantastic croatian coaches over the years, who have contributed a lot to TM, but more importantly to the development of TM. This guy has been a jabroni and really hampered TM in terms of development for a long time. I'm so glad we have CQ and not this man, because when CQ eventually leaves us, he will leave our team in a much stronger place.

lets not start this again. PP were simply out of their depth and missing their 4 key players ( Jalal, Ansari, Taremi, Kamyabinia ) and had mediocre replacements. They played far too open , but lets face it, hilal just were better player for player. PP needed luck and everybody to play spectacular to win today, and that didnt happen. They have been great this year in ACL, but I think they should have parked the bus today, ofc hindight is 20/20 .
Branko is still by far the best coach PP could wish for and he has done very well considering the resources of PP in comparision with all the other asian teams

This was on major part on Branko despite Taremi's issue and the absents of Jalal, Kamal and Ansari:
1. The team wasn't psychology ready specially after 90 program and Taremi's issue, again that is the coach job to make sure everyone is ready.
2. There was a HUGE tactic collapse in such a game: First why would you start a so called away match in semi-final of ACL with only 1 defensive midfielder? and the one with very little international experience. He realized it in second half and added Nourollahi but it was too late. Persepolis should have started the match with 2 DM and 1 forward.
3. Even after the 2nd goal and having man advantage, the defense played it horrible. At this point the little he could have done was to minimize the catastrophe, play with more caution and hope to score on set pieces. If not 0-2 was much better than 0-4. At 0-2 his team still had a little chance

the boys did the best they could. Kudos to them. It wasn't just injuries and suspensions. Al Hilal was and is the better side of the two. sometimes you just gotta take your hat off to the other guys and wish yourself better luck next time around.

despite all that, the ball didn't want to go in either. we had a few chances and several other opportunities to make better decisions and we didn't.

Considering most other leagues have privately owned teams it's obvious our teams can't compete. The salary cap of Persepolis to the rest of the 4 teams in the semi-finals is huge.
