Iranian clubs have been sucking and we're about to lose ACL spots since the national team rankings won't matter in the future:
"The AFC have stated that the ranking eventually should be made up of 100% club performances and no FIFA world ranking points. From 2017 to 2020 the FIFA ranking will contribute 10% and from 2021 onwards 0%. The ranking shall also be renamed AFC Club Competition Ranking."
We're 8th right now behind UAE, South Korea, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, China, Japan and Australia

Iran would be 4th in West Asia, which would mean 2+2 spots, unless AFC merges East and West Asia together.Originally posted by Team Melli Fan View PostIranian clubs have been sucking and we're about to lose ACL spots since the national team rankings won't matter in the future:

^^^ You guys are wrong in your assessment of the game. The main problem is that our league is amature and the Arabs are pros. They have training whereas our teams don't.
Just look at the way we play football compared to other countries that play it, we don't know what we're doing. The players are unprofessional. The issue is fundamental and nothing else.
FIFA has heavily invested in football infrastructure in Arab countries because there is money to be made there. At the end of the day, it's all about money, and believe it or not, all these leagues and teams are operated by FIFA.
FIFA sets up football programs and will spend billions to facilitate football programs in countries which it sees it can make money in. Iran is not one of them so hence no football program and amature league.

Here's an article talking about how FIFA President Gianni Infantino was recently in Uganda opening up a new sports training facility and stating that FIFA is planning on investing much more money in Africa. This is how it works. FIFA has heavily invested in Arab football as well.

In all honesty he was no Buffon by any means. Zobahan players did the best to their ability to hit the GK with their ridiculous shots on goal. It all boils down to IQ and how quick one can think and act. They all just blindly hit the ball with full power, rather than looking for the best angle, aim and shoot.Originally posted by eerooni View Post"let's not forget Al Ain's goalie that had become Buffon for us today! Unbelievable saves! These guys just kill themselves against Iranians. They come on the field like they are at a regional war. They play their best."
Any PGPL player taking a chip PK shoot be hung by the balls. 2 weeks in a row blundering PKs in such crucial matches for Persepolis and Zobahan. Why trying to be fancy, when you're not fancy? Do what you can do best, not what the bests can do, cuz you ain't the best!
Very dismayed by both our teams of today's. Tomorrow teams (Both Esteghlal's) are our best chances of hopefully advancing to the next round!
Not sure about you guys, but I am disappointed. Our clubs need to stop buying crappy foreign players, invest in our own youth talents. And only bring in a handful world class foreign players (Aged ones to get better prices)

It's easy to look like Buffon when players taking shots on net are aiming everywhere but away from the goalie. The problem is more fundamental.Originally posted by arasradio View Postand let's not forget Al Ain's goalie that had become Buffon for us today! Unbelievable saves! No need to do careful technical analysis. One look at our football is enough. The reason for underperformance is simple, we do not have a professional football program. What we essentially need is funding from FIFA, which facilitates football development in most countries. By the looks of it, they haven't invested in Iran for whatever reason. It could be economical, political, who knows. Half the country can't even step into a stadium so my guess is that it's an economical decision that they have chosen not to invest. Each year they invest tons of money in football development throughout the world. Here's another article that talks FIFA funding:Originally posted by Paradigm View PostHas anyone done a careful technical analysis of the latest AFC games by Iranian clubs? The results are frankly embarrassing. Need to discover both the broad and the specific reasons for underperformance. Hopefully the Esteghlals can do better tomorrow.

Maybe instead of depending on FIFA, we can stop funding terrorists like Hezbollah and focus on our own country. Fifa has every right not to help us.Originally posted by IranTM View PostIt's easy to look like Buffon when players taking shots on net are aiming everywhere but away from the goalie. Iran is a rich country. It does NOT need FIFA to help it.
Money is not everything. Many Iranian players play with passion.
Iran going to WC will help our players and federation greatly.
Monday's games were embarrassing to watch. Shitty performance and results must gave penalties for players and team.چو ایران نباشد تن من مباد

Yes Iran is a rich country but it does not invest at all. And money is pretty much everything. Iranian players play with lots of passion but passion won't win you football matches at a professional level if you haven't been taught how to play the game professionally. There's a fundamental issue and it starts with a lack of proper football infrastructure. Until the country invests in things like pitches, technical centres, youth academies, we won't see anything too spectacular.Originally posted by AIrani View PostIran is a rich country.
