Can everyone stop freaking out about Pourghaz, he's like our 5th choice CB and has experience and now understands CQ's system. He will never touch the field, but if he does, at least he'll know how to fill his role.

Can you elaborate more on your logic behind why he is exactly 5th best CB in Iran?!!!?!?!?! Plus he is almost 30, is not like he is 22 and you say lets invest on this guy..

Isn't it weird that Dejagah is not included in the list? He has no club, what could be the reason why he isn't included in the camp? Haghighi is invited, why not him?

I had the same thought when I saw it. Dejagah's entire career right now is just weird to me. You would think a former Bundesliga champion would have more going on at the moment in terms of clubs. He's clubless and not even in this list. He'll 99% be in the final list, but what is going on with his career?

The fact that he doesn't have a team yet is very weird for sure. But also what I mean is, if Haghighi who's a free agent is included in the list, then there is no reason that Ashkan shouldn't be in there as well. Either the list is wrong somehow, or we might not see him in the final 23 men squad

Also CQ really loves utility players, and Pourghaz can play CB but also had a good game at DM a while ago. So he is a good person to have in case there is an injury etc in the squad.

I agree that it would make more sense to invest in a younger CB but Pourghaz isn't all that bad. He offers versatility, is solid on set pieces, is very anti-long ball....all 3 very important things for CQ so it is easy to understand why he likes him. Not worth the fuss that some ppl make IMO honestly, as MN said he's very likely not going to touch the field regardless nor would the person you or I would rather have instead of him.

With winter break approaching, it is not looking good. You would think a player like Ashkan being available for free would have gotten signed up to some team a month ago. Either he is currently injured, or there are just really no teams interested in him for some reason. Maybe his wage demands are too high, or something. Why a team can't just pick him up for free is so weird to me. Even Perspolis. It's quite strange.

I think Ashkan has a fucked up knee and wants to save his energy for the upcoming WCQ against Syria to give his best for TM. The guy is almost done with his career, his knee can't take it any longer. On the other hand Haghighi has no excuse to be clubless...

Why hasn't Dariush Shojaeian been getting called up lately? Has he been bad this season for Gostaresh? I don't watch the IPL but he played well for Iran when he played. Is he injured?
