Here's my player ratings:

Beira: 4 - definitely no passing mark, looked shaky and his throws and kicks were awful

Hosseini/Montazeri: 8 - solid as always, their experience showed.

PAG: 6 - I think he had a decent match but nothing extra-ordinary.

Milad: 5 - I'd say average game, would have liked to see him involved more offensively.

Rezaeian: 8 - not sure why he got so many low marks, only work-horse on the team other than Ando and we had a total of 4 decent crosses into the Chinese box (outside corners) and all 4 were from Rezaeian.

Ando: 8 - solid game, worked hard

Ezzi: 7 - again, not sure why everyone's being hard on him... he's filling Nekou's shoes and that's wouldn't have been an easy task for anyone let alone a 19 year old. I think he did very well for his experience level.

Jahanbakhsh: 2 - absolutely terrible, two matches in a row (other than that goal of course).

Masoud: 5 - I'm giving him a passing mark because he did have a few nice moments in the match but he had a terrible 2nd half other than the nice layout for Jahanbakhsh. Just looked confused, slow and tired after the 1st 45 minutes.

Amiri: 3 - I've never been impressed with Amiri... he had a couple of good games post Asian Cup but that's it. He runs a lot but not smart and totally lacks vision for the position he's picked for.

Azmoun: 2 - absolutely terrible and like JB two matches in a row. Didn't really work hard and I find he still has serious fitness issues to play more than 50 minutes.

Torabi: 6 - never been a huge fan but I think he had a decent match and got our only shot on target. I find him too predictable with the same move, always taking on the defender outside and into the end line, which he tried 4 times today with zero luck. Predictability is not a good thing at this stage.

Gucci: 6 - Should have started this match, barely got a chance to shine but still added some dimension to our attack since he came on.

We all seem to forget couple of important facts:
- The best team will NOT peak in the beginning of a tournament ( if this can be considered a tournament), I actually think as time goes by TM will get better and better. It is to our benefit to not peak too early.
- We played away in front of 60K fans supporting China, the pitch, atmosphere along with the weather (looked heavy) all those do effect the performance
- We got a great away point. (what is there to complain)?
Overall- not the best performance by TM but we controlled the game. Happy with the result.

I am not saying Iran been bad / or great but take a look at Japan and S Korea so far. S korea ended beating China 3-2 and drawing 0-0 to Syria!!! and Japan lost 1-2 at home to UAE!!!

sure, iran always disappoints in a game or two even in good times but generally speaking we seem to have been doing better than these two teams so far.

I think we can do a more precise analysis on Beiranvand in a few weeks, since Perspolis will face Tractor, Esteghlal and Sepahan before our next WCQ game. He hasn't really been tested in the league and WCQ games.

All I know is that the formation we played with was for a friendly match! We could've at least score 1 goal against this Chinese team that had lots of mistakes. Their goalie was crap as hell ! Also we must be thankful that the ref wasn't arab sided ! that was a clear penalty by hosseini which the ref let it go

I watched some of the game about 75 mins. It is just the beginning of this round but our attacking line has lost a lot of chances, I don't like the way we are set up offensively.We need to attack on the ground as well, 85% of our attacking is from rezaian crosses to azmoun or in the middle.This how we use to attack back in the day with Daei in the middle.But we need to have more then one dimension of attack or else teams well send 6-8 players in there box and clear 90% of the crosses.Azmoun is a better dribble then Daei was so I don't get why we can't change our formation and have Gucci and azmoun side by side so we can have different attacking options.

Those of you who are upset with this result have to keep in mind that we played 5 days ago a very tough match, flew to the other side of asia and were playing a hungry side infront of their fans with a big time difference

If you asked me before the game if id accept a tie or risk it I swear I would have taken the tie
This was always going to be a tough game to win

BUT if you want to say we deserved to win and we were that much better, I dont agree the way the game was played had 0-0 all over it. To win we needed a moment of magic from one of our special players which that did not come and usually doesnt.

Successful teams have this thing called ''PLANS'' that take care of all the moves that ought to lead to a good chance to score a goal. Players duties, positions, timing, ... are all laid out and worked on.
I am not saying every plan must result in a goal scored. But you can see moves are rehearsed and there is an organization about them.

But to always hoof up the ball HOPING for a miracle or a mistake is NOT planning. That's just foolish.


Now, in a game a coach may lay out a couple of tactics to score. Sometimes they are nullified and counter-measures are employed. Here it is the COACH's responsibility to come in and grab hold of the game. In the form of changing positions, changing formations, substitutions, reminding and dictating new commands, ... .
CQ is really not that strong in this dept.
Dont confuse it with his expertise in PREPARING a team. I am quite impressed with what he does in all the days and weeks leading up to a game (except perhaps the formations). That's why Fergie relied on him in Man U. He is a pretty great assistant coach.
But the HEAD coach duties are far more. Like in-game leadership, ... etc. It is here that he leaves us wanting more.

The result was disappointing because CHINA played so bad. They were much weaker than we expected them to be. They were the ones who were intimidated in their own stadium, not us.

That is why TM should have won.

Not every team is going to make a freak mistake against us for us to score. If we didn't get lucky, we'd only have 2 pts now and be down at the bottom of the group along with Qatar. As far as tying games 0-0, is that the point of football? Is that how teams make it to the elimination stages of the WC? Our coach is too conservative for an effective attacking game. This has been the case for the past 5 years and it's not going to change. I'm tired of these 0-0 snooze festivals every time TM plays.

When the other team is playing at Home, Desperate and with 5 defenders all those passing through balls and things like that become very very difficult, But a special moment like when Dejagah scored 2 or when Estili scored vs USA is not luck thats called your good players coming through which is what Tim Cahill did today for Australia and is what always happens for good teams when the other team plays defensively
