The Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran (FFIRI) and the Japan Football Association (JFA) have struck an agreement on the promotion of cooperation and interaction between the governing bodies responsible for organizing national teams as well as club competitions in the two Asian countries.

On Tuesday, President of the FFIRI, Mehdi Taj, and his Japanese counterpart Kozo Tashima signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) during a ceremony in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.

Iranian Vice President at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Ali Kaffashian, Iranian football administrator Mohammad Reza Saket and other Iranian sports officials were also in attendance.

“I view Japan as the standard basis of Asian football. Iran, Japan, China and South Korea can wield enormous influence in the Asian Football Confederation , and it is necessary to bring about a number of reforms to the AFC,” Taj said.

“We should set Iran as an example for all-out development, and are very grateful for measures aimed at expansion of cooperation with the FFIRI. Some countries have no effect whatsoever on Asia’s football, while some others are highly influential. Such states must receive further AFC support so they can advance to the FIFA World Cup Round of 16. Japan always stands up for more rights for countries participating in FIFA World Cup,” Tashima commented.

The agreement between FFIRI and JFA aims to raise the level of cooperation and to deepen relations between the two countries in football.

Holding training courses for Iranian male and female coaches and referees, organizing friendly games, exchanging expertise on sport and exercise medicine, construction of sports facilities as well as production of sports equipment are among the Iranian side's priorities by signing the MoU

The Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran (FFIRI) has so far signed MoUs with several different countries, including Armenia, Belarus, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway and Romania.

This agreement is in addition to the one Saipa FC signed with Werder Bremen FC and also TAJ mentioned that going forward, CQ will now be heading the development and training programs for ALL national teams from U-14 to Senior team , to ensure uniformity in development, programs and training so senior team can eventually benefit from a continuous source of rising talents ! amazing news IMO!! Finally IFF is going in right direction....

CQ also said that playing friendlies against teams like Brazil, Portugal or England is wrong, because it wouldn't add anything. He also talked about the TM friendly against Brazil in 2010.

Awesome! I can realistically see IFF organizing a friendly with Japan at some point before the WC. If they play in Japan, I will make sure to go and take lots of pictures to share with you guys

I disagree with him. We badly need such tests, at least one top team : few of our players have experienced such opposition both with their clubs and with TM. And we will have one top team in our group and didn't won or even draw against one of them so far.

BTW, that's exactly what our futsal, beachsoccer and volleyball TM do, and we saw the results.

That's during the upcoming months, far from the WC, that we should take the risk to be exposed by a top team. At the worst, our GK, defense, etc.. is tested and we could work to improve them. At best, our players realize they can match such opposition (specially against England which doesn't seem to be that good).

Anyway, priority n°1 is to fill decent 4 friendlies for october and november.
Priority n°2 is to send lots of players in Europe for this transfer window : Azmoun and JB should improve their club/league, Shekari, torabi, Rezaian at the very least should land somewhere in europe.

If CQ stays he will be the Alex Fergurson of Iran (possibly even a bigger role). CQ has created a master piece and this masterpiece can become a world wonder now that CQ has access to plan from the ground up. I seriously believe if CQ stays with Iran till 2022 he will want to win the world cup with our country. He realizes that Iranian passion for football and the talent pool is just a diamond mine unfortunately has been hidden by ashes of discrimination and mismanagement.
