True, but big brands as you call them would never come to Iran in the first place, as we have no copyright and patent laws to speak of, and if we do they are infringed upon with ease. There is no money in it for Nike because as soon as the kit design is released knockoffs will flood the market. I mean an online Iranian dealer legitimately sent me a fake Uhlsport jersey as a "free gift" when I bought our WCQ one from them! When I was at various events to watch the WC and AC matches, for every authentic jersey I saw with a cheetah print, I saw an additional 5 fake ones! Until we get rid of the middle man and counterfeit culture they won't come.

But in China they can retail 1 authentic jersey for 10 fakes and still make a huge profit given the massive population. In Iran they won't have the same luxury.Originally posted by MR.S View Postknockoffs are everywhere look at china . Lot of Iranians are demanding authentic gear. Yep just like Majid/merooj has a store in Los Angeles...in fact they claim to have HQ offices in California...does team USA in any sport wear merooj? Do Americans care for the brand??? What's your point adidas has stores in many places? Namayandegi doesn't equal sponsorship. My points are well documented facts not youtube vids...case in point...recent academic publication relevant to the topic.Originally posted by MR.Sadidas store opening ceremony Iran

And here is some mainstream news on the topic in case you aren't looking for an academic paper...notice how the government took a stance to ban significant western product imports.

I have no time reading a research study, I have my own to write. And they actually mean nothing if they are not credited buy other researchers.Originally posted by O-ZoNe View Post
And your own articles prove u wrong Adidas Diesel and Puma have official stores in Iran.
So what's the diffrence in having Adidas retailers and sponsoring?
Go read your on comments u change the subject when you where proven wrong. Sorry I'm not going to waste any more time on u end of discussion.

I guess since it seems you feel we have time for youtube vids I figured you could read a pub or a news piece. Sponsorship is advertisement and the hopes for revenue should the fan base/followers like what they see. But if the fans are flooded with fakes...they may be attracted by low prices rather than paying $100 for a jersey. My guess is with a retailer...the store owner/manager puts in an order and is required to sell off the product which is guaranteed profit for Adidas regardless of fakes being available. Also retail shops have a variety of products and thus appeal to customers within a broad market. Professional sports have a strong appeal to counterfeiters because they bridge the price gap. Most people won't pay $10 for a fake tshirt when the real is $29 (or they do and still buy the real one too)but they would pay $39 for a fake jersey when the real is $100-200.Originally posted by MR.S View PostI have no time reading a research study, I have my own to write.

Right. Sounds wonderfulOriginally posted by MR.S View PostI'm a business engineer myself so pls save me the effort
Anyways to be honest...would love for Adidas or Nike to sponsor TM. I'm obviously more pessimistic than you are about the prospects.

I'm not to optimistic about Tm sponsorship by a big brand either but not for the copyright reason u mentioned. We can get any big brand we want, but unfortunately our federation are to corrupt for that, wanting the biggest possible profit as possible wich they atleast on paper get with small companys like Givova.

Well that's Uhlsport's fault for not making the legit jerseys accessible to everyone lolOriginally posted by O-ZoNe View PostTrue, but big brands as you call them would never come to Iran in the first place, as we have no copyright and patent laws to speak of, and if we do they are infringed upon with ease. Perhaps, but that's not making it to the big brand CEO earsOriginally posted by Kian B. View PostWell that's Uhlsport's fault for not making the legit jerseys accessible to everyone lol
Could it also be a problem with Iran's market structure that emphasizes the need for middle men?
