Honestly considering that haghighi has had 0 playing time for a while I think this is a good move.

it's probably no worse than second norwegian league and definitely better than wasting his time on Instagram.

RELIABLE JOURNALIST: SELLING CLUB LINE-UP REPLACEMENT AS RANGERS CLOSE IN ON REPORTED SIGNING

              30th January, 2017, 4:10 PM

              By Will Butcher

Rangers have moved a step closer to the signing of Jak Alnwick after Port Vale lined up a replacement in Iranian goalkeeper Alireza Haghighi, according to a reliable journalist.

The Scottish Sun claim that Alnwick, 23, is expected join the Gers on Monday once he is given the all clear from his Monday medical.

Sun correspondent Alan Nixon has now revealed on his personal Twitter account that Alnwick’s current side have lined up free agent Haghighi to replace the former Newcastle stopper.

A 23-time Iran international, Haghighi is looking for a new home after being released by Portuguese side Maritimo and has experience in the Europa League and the 2014 World Cup.

Rangers had a bid worth £250,000 accepted for Alnwick last week, and he is now set to challenge previously undisputed first-choice goalkeeper Wes Foderingham.
Alnwick’s impending move to Glasgow comes after veteran Matt Gilks was set to confirm a move to Championship outfit Wigan Athletic.

Alnwick, a two-time England Under-18 international, is now set to move north to replace Gilks despite his wonderful form in between the sticks for Vale this season.

Keeping one clean sheet every three games, Alnwick has prevented the opposition from scoring on 10 separate occasions and that form has caught the eye of manager Mark Warburton.

I'm the first to champion our players moving to the European leagues... but not like this.

Port Vale are dogs**t and League 1 is not a suitable league for our players. Maybe with the exception of the big clubs (Sheffield United and Bolton), he shouldn't touch any club in that league. And it's sad that we're saying play there and you might get a move to the championship. He's good enough to keep the sticks in the Championship now!

At this point, its unlikely that he will he find a much better club (as a starter) before the summer. He should just stop wasting time and sign a 6-month contract until the summer when he'll be more likely to attract better teams. At least this way he'll be able to stay in shape and get some practice.

you wouldn't take league one over a move back to Iran? Lets say he were to go back to PGL.....even then, where would he go? Be the 3rd choice behind berio and radsovic (both of which who have played great this year), back up to oliviera at sepahan or mazaheri at ZA?

When you go clubless for 6th months if you can even get a league one side to gaurantee you a starting spot, you are not in the worst shape. Also to add to him not playing in 6 months, the last times he was playing he wasn't even really succeeding....his stint with maritimo did not go too well. This is also something important to consider.

I have watched tafazoli on a number of ocassions in league one play and it is not a bad league like youd expect given its a third tier league in england....it is more or less on par with PGL yet offers a lot more obvious perks than the PGL does. I don't see how anyone can reasonably bash this move by him when taking all of this into consideration....

I've attended matches in this league thoroughly over the last decade. He's better than this and it will be the nail in the coffin of his career. 4 months here then back to the middle east and lucky to ever get a TM call up again.

None of us know what offers have or haven't been tabled for him and whether this rumour has any truth or just an assumption from a journalist that saw him in manchester, knows there is a club in the area in need of a keeper and is putting two and two together.

If it is true, his demands can't exactly be unreasonable. He'll be paid peanuts by Vale.

To answer an earlier comment... begrudingly, I'd take a move back to the IPL over this.

There's having aspirations by carrying on finding a club in Europe over taking the Arab money or returning to Iran for an easier footballing life, which is commendable, and then there's playing League 1 football.
