I cannot take another team melli match with Hajsafi as LB again. It has been years now that he has been forced into that position, and we owe him a huge appreciation for never complaining, stepping up, and giving it his all. However, we have seen for so many years that he is not a defender! Either I am blind, and so are many other members, or the coaches are. How is it possible that we don't have a single LB in our league than can play for TM?? We struggled with left back for years, we even resulted to Nikbakht and Zandi playing LB at one point... I am not saying Hajsafi isn't better than them, but I just don't get why this position is so difficult to fill. CQ made Pouladi into a LB, and Pouladi was awesome, but the guy is gone, we need a replacement. Sorry for the rant, it is just that this LB position has me really rattled. (Thankfully Shojaei and Heydari are no longer getting playing time, this is the next thing to solve)

With the win today, Iran now has a winning record against every team they faced in Asia

I did not watch the full match, but from the highlights these are the things that I noticed.
Ezatollahi is literally saving our assess right now, his vision, his touch, his brain really shows when he plays. Every play he was involved in was so fluid and nice.
He plays a very nice modern European style football. Cant wait to see him in Rostov, he is certainly better than Gatcan.
Dejagah was very involved but his final touches were off once again.
I cant blame hajsafi for that goal as a defender, because that guy would have literally broken his face or neck with the way he was coming in, IMO that should have been a dangerous play call.
torabi is a weird player, he is effective but weird.
Ebrahmi is solid.
we missed our good defenders today, and of course we all know hajsafi is not a defender.
Rezaian needs to pay more attention to his cross placement.
Azmoun was missed a lot today.

The combination of Haghighi and Hajisafy in the back is a recipe for disaster. I hope Akhbari gets the start against Guam.

The most frightening thing to me was how Rezaeian and Hajsafi were beaten one on one by Turkmen wingers. Hajsafi especially is really just plain bad at defending.

Good point rugs jaan, but I still can't fully agree. I have a feeling he is losing that "German" sharpness & focus that I liked about him, at times he looks so shallow & careless. At very best he will stagnate, but I see no way he can improve playing in QSL - hence why I wouldn’t mind to see a JB taking his spot, as his future looks much brighter. Dejagah is still one of the best, but he is on the decline IMO.Originally posted by rugs View PostHe wasn't playing too different before either. I mean aside from his first game against Qatar and the Argentina game, he has played like this.
Even at Fulham he played similar, he is an attacker and takes people on and sometimes looses the ball. I think we expect him to play different or better because of the weaker opponent, but I think that is just his game.
People have been calling our players names, insulting mothers & sister....what I said was just a harmless joke. What Ferdosipour said was wrong ON NATIONAL TV, similar to his stupid comments regarding player's hairstyle. There is a difference when a fan makes a joke about his favorite player, somewhat similar to the jokes one makes with his friends. Of course if you do that on a constant and serious basis, then it becomes too much. Hopefully this clears it up my friend - I am just another ordinary member like you and the rest, nothing sets me apart.Originally posted by Kavian View PostWe can certainly take a joke! but there are jokes and there are jokes! ... You are a VIP member and we need you to set an example for the rest. Thanks.

The dude has been having issues with crosses ever since 2015 AFC. Almost all of the goals scored against us are in a shape or form crossed into the box and Haghighi makes a misjudgment on his exit, or he doesn't come out when he needs to. I don't understand why the staff don't see this and bench him or change his training regiment to make up for this. I am sure he is psychologically a mess and needs to cool his head. A GK that doubts himself is the worst.Originally posted by Doctor DOOM View PostK just watched the goals and highlights of the game.
Frœm now on I'm gonna call Haggighi, FLAPPER. How many times are we going to see the exact same scenario of conceding goals for CQ to change things? What's wrong with CQ, for ignoring such a blatant weak spot?
Hajsafi just doesn't belong to defense. Don't ruin him there. Haghighi also needs to be benched as he's proving he's unreliable. What he does can be easily performed by at least a DOZEN other keepers in the league. Why does he waltz into TM's fixed line up?
This time, he went to punch the ball away one handed on a corner kick, that's almost suicide based on the angle/trajectory of the ball.

Some things that bothered me:
- Rezaeian is developing a very bad stereotypical Iranian habit of crossing in aimless balls from the flank that have minimal chances of creating an opportunity. It's painful to watch and kills our attack CQ really needs to give him a nice talking to.
- Ebrahimi makes a lot of pointless and risky back passes to the defense.
- Another goal conceded vastly due to Hajsafi's poor marking. He has been at fault for more goals than anyone I can think of in recent years of TM
The good:
- Kaveh looked aggressive and hungry, it's a shame he didn't score he was working very hard up front CQ will love having him in the future.
- Ezzatolahi gets better and better each game, that goal was pure class that shot looked like a fines goal of score in FIFA...very smart player all around
- Pouraliganji needs to start he showed he is more dangerous on set pieces than any other CB
- We're now in 1st

Kudos to CQ to give a big bilakh to the idiot officials and the backward mindset of the gov't, for wearing a tie. That was a very deliberate and pointed ''up yours'' to Assadi and other maggots.
Gotta give the chap credit for not taking nonsense from these idiots.

I'm happy with the 3 -1 result.
Interesting fact: this is the first time in almost two years that TM won a match where they got scored against.
The last time was 3 March 2014 Asian Cup Qualifier against Kuwait (3-2 win)

Here is some good news!
For a change we will get to see Iran in prime time in the PST time zone.
Last time this happened was when we played North Korea in the 2006 campaign.
Guam - Iran....Monday 9:30PM PST

It was a good game. We played well but couldn't capitalize on some chances. Let's give credit to Turkeministan for really giving their all against us. I was surprised how organized they were defensively and closed gaps to maintain our attacking line.
If you're not happy about this result, this is football and this is a new Team Melli. It takes some time. Considering we were also missing a few players, we did well.
If you're really upset and can't accept the fact that we didn't win by more than 5 goals, just remember Saudi Arabia 0-0 vs Palestine. I'm sure that will make you feel better
