    2. There was no AFC-owned advertising in the stadium. It was as though two local teams were playing. All local Iranian ads.
    3. The quality of TV broadcast was one of the poorest I have seen lately. Everything looked dim and dirty! .. there were a few occassions when the picture turned so blury, it was hard to see. Khiabani kept talking about HD recording but what good is recording if it is not broadcasted in HD.
    4. Turkmenistan's all Green Umbro brand jersy was reminsent of Iran vs. Ireland game.
    5. First time, after 36 years, I saw our national team coach wearing a tie. Which was a delight! ... I still have nightmare of that light blue track suit Mayeli Kohan used to wear when he was in charge way back, which was 2 size big, super baggy and made in Monireyeh! .. horrible!
    6. I thought Khiabani's expression "Zaboonam Lall, Zabonanm Lall" was like an old grandma talking -- he was trying to analyze the outcome of the game should any of the team score the next goal.

Anything you saw interesting or worth mentioning?
You are wrong in ridiculing the suits made in Monireyeh. You must not be living or visiting Iran to know that Monireyeh has changed. Even Ali Daie's has a sporting store there.

There were several positive elements to the game, e.g. the win was positive for me. Yes, Iran is a monopoly country. In a monopoly situations, they do what they damn please. Sport is a monopoly, broadcasting is monopoly, etc. There are too many bosses in Iran but ONLY one TheBoss in PFDC.

It has been embarrassing for a rich country as Iran not to have seats in upper level. Billion of dollars are spent on building dams which are NOT needed, but there is no money to repair or build a world class stadium that the entire world can see Iran through sporting events.

Some Observations from Iran vs. Turkeminstan Game

    1. Azadi grass was either cut too long or had some kind of problem. It was very slow. the ball often did not travel well. Many of the passes came short of reaching its target.

    7. Stadium announcements were all in Farsi and not in English. Against AFC rules.
    8. Turkmenistan goal came from a superb curve ball to the far post, which in my opinion was tough for any keeper to handle given the speed of that ball. There was also a slight charging of the goalkeeper by the Turkmen forward who made Haghighi's punch in the air more profound. Although his positioning was not very ideal and that he should have been in the middle of the two goal posts. Perhaps he was expecting the ball to be delivered to the near post.

Anything you saw interesting or worth mentioning?

Haghighi - Lowest rating for two consecutive matches, hasn't got a passing grade since India match (5.3).
Almost scary! You read my mind. As a matter of fact I sent a PM to Webbi to see if there is a feature we can add to average the polls. It could be very handy and would invite more participation. He didn't have an easy solution at the moment. I don't know if any one knows a way to do this automatically.

The biggest gripe I have with our players is, why can't you beat the first man when crossing? They are professionals and should be able to judge that a cross is not possible. Blindly crossing and hitting the first defender just shows lack of awareness and fitness.

Overall I like the youth in the team, a lot of passion and hassle, it is fantastic.

Is it true that Ezzatolahi became the youngest goalscorer for Iran? I thought Kaebi was younger when he scored.
Kaebi was "younger" after he came out with the fact that he was like 5 years older or something he wasn't the youngest anymore

Here is my take on this game and what we should do going forward.

    1. I think it is time to give another GK a chance, particularly Beiranvand or Akhbari. Haghighi just isn't getting any playing time at his club and his performances for TM is reflecting that.
    2. Pouraliganji is a STUD! Time for this start every game for us. He was great in the Asian Cup and did great again today. He reminds me of a Laurent Koscielny where he is a beast on set pieces and corners. Having him and Seyed Jalal would be amazing going forward. Pourghaz is average at best, rather have Kanaani over him.
    3. Please stop playing Hajsafi at LB. Either move him up to midfield or bench him. I want to see Mohammadi play at LB and get him some minutes.
    4. Ezzatollahi is the future. That European experience is coming in handy now. Hopefully, this locked up a permanent starting spot for him going forward.
    5. Attack looks promising especially when I see Torabi improving every game. Having him and Azmoun together will be lethal for opposition. Hopefully European teams are keeping a close eye on him.
    6. Dejagah is still the heart of the team. Most attention will always be on him so lets give him some slack even tho he plays in Qshit league.

Dejagah made many mistakes, but also was integral in some of the best moments for the team. I'd give him a 7.5.

Kaveh Rezaei was very disappointing: 4/10.

Gucci and Jahanbakhsh really vitalised the forward line.

It won't hurt to give akhbari or BV a try. With an inexperienced defense and low match praxis is much more a matter of low form and not ARH being a bad keeper

Losing the ball in the middle of the pitch is the most dangerous, some fans have suggested that either Shojaei or Dejagah take over from The Yellow-Carded Ebrahimi. For me that is a no no as although I rate them both very highly they have been known to lose the ball few times on one-on-one or when crowded, best man for the job is PAG but he is bound to stay as Centre Back.

With respect to Haggighi, I guess some fans are being harsh- he just does not get any real match practice- when he was playing in Portugal - his positioning was far more accurate. Sooner he leaves Kazan the sooner he will improve.

I believe that Beiranvand is the best Iranian keeper available but due to lack of game time Akhbari should start the next couple of games, definitely vs Guam. He has been truly in form since the end of last season with Saipa and the beginning of this season with Tractor and deserves the start

Everyone bashing ARH and dejagah need to chill out - you ppl are letting your emotions get the best of you.

Haghighi was partially at fault but the majority goes to Hajsafi for poor marking. Even if haghighi was positioned properly and Hajsafi's man would have struck the ball it still more likely than not would have gone in.

Those making fun of dejagah are even more comical the man could have had 3-4 goals and 3-4 assists with better luck. It just wasn't on his side today and any sane football fan knows luck is a big element of the game especially on a day like this - only
Ashkan had the worse side of it.

yeah as if Rahmati was great with balls that were floated in. He had issues with them as well. So Rahmati with all his attitude and weaknesses is not the answer either. Rahmati is history by now the sooner we realise the better.
