Mehdi Sharifi is from Varposht Esfahan, nothing to do with Mohammad Sharifi from Bushehr. He played his youth in Bushehr( U12-13
) and Foulad( U14-16).
This year he was recruited by Ali Daei for saba but when Ali daei left he signed with Esteghlal Khuzestan
I made a thread for him while back

Well, with the exception of 3 players (not the allotted overage ones that FIFA allows), everyone was overage in their Olympic team this summer. Their best player Ali Adnan is 25, not 22, for example.Originally posted by Ali Doust View Postanyone know how many over aged players iraq has this time around? They usually have between 5-8 players in every tournament.
From what I'm reading, the same may apply to this "under" 16 team, or even less. Their best player Dawud, is probably 19-20. At this age group, those 3-4 years make a HUGE difference - as we saw, our boys physically tired in the 2nd half playing against the overage and heavier North Korean players
Iraq's overage players - the receipts for those who continue to doubt

A 13 year old playing for Under-19 team
(He's "15 years old" now. Dawud is their best player btw)

Yeah we better hope Taha impresses at the U-17 WC next year, and makes a move to a European club (similar to Saeed).Originally posted by Tehranto View PostShariati, Sharifi, Ezmailzadeh, Allahyar, Naderi (albeit short). All of them very, very good players! I hope they are nurtured right - they can become beasts.
Taha Shariati is an absolute beast. He's a CB too, something we need so badly. Always makes the smart plays - not a fan of his chucking it up - but Iranian CBs have been trained to do that. He can unlearn it too. Today he played more on the ground passes, which I loved.
We NEED Centre backs in Europe for the sake of TM, and he may well be the answer.

A member was once claiming the best Asian refs come from Uzbekistan. Of course he was biased due to obvious reasons.Originally posted by Nader25 View PostThe name of the referee:

A name to remember aside of that australian one : Jerry Williams or what his name was.

There was evidence given 3 posts above yours ... and a plethora of other ones regarding Iraq's other age groups in other threads.Originally posted by ShirFarhad View PostThey all look to be U17 tbh... But I guess people see what they want to see. And the eye-test is the most important and persuasive factual component, especially on a grainy image. I saw some of their game vs. Japan. They don't even pass the eye test.Last edited by Tehranto; 09-30-2016, 08:25 AM.
