Mehdi Sharifi is from Varposht Esfahan, nothing to do with Mohammad Sharifi from Bushehr. He played his youth in Bushehr( U12-13
) and Foulad( U14-16).
This year he was recruited by Ali Daei for saba but when Ali daei left he signed with Esteghlal Khuzestan

Well, with the exception of 3 players (not the allotted overage ones that FIFA allows), everyone was overage in their Olympic team this summer. Their best player Ali Adnan is 25, not 22, for example.

From what I'm reading, the same may apply to this "under" 16 team, or even less. Their best player Dawud, is probably 19-20. At this age group, those 3-4 years make a HUGE difference - as we saw, our boys physically tired in the 2nd half playing against the overage and heavier North Korean players

Shariati, Sharifi, Ezmailzadeh, Allahyar, Naderi (albeit short). All of them very, very good players! I hope they are nurtured right - they can become beasts.

Taha Shariati is an absolute beast. He's a CB too, something we need so badly. Always makes the smart plays - not a fan of his chucking it up - but Iranian CBs have been trained to do that. He can unlearn it too. Today he played more on the ground passes, which I loved.

Yeah we better hope Taha impresses at the U-17 WC next year, and makes a move to a European club (similar to Saeed).

We NEED Centre backs in Europe for the sake of TM, and he may well be the answer.

Amazing how Japan does not concede a single goal throughout and then losses by 4 goals to Iraq??!!!! Time for our boys to up their game and win this tournament, we deserve it , we are favorites and we will win and qualify to the WC with a winners trophy in hand!!

There was evidence given 3 posts above yours ... and a plethora of other ones regarding Iraq's other age groups in other threads.

But I guess people see what they want to see. And the eye-test is the most important and persuasive factual component, especially on a grainy image. I saw some of their game vs. Japan. They don't even pass the eye test.
