    Back to topic:
We need to stop bashing MK. I am not a fan either, but this guy has harmful mental issues and I don't know why no one cares about this? This is getting out of hand! Instead of offering MK serious help, they give him the opportunity to pop up in every TV show so he can humiliate himself in public. As much as we might dislike him, it's not fair to play with the reputation/image of a man like that.

    Some points about Azizi:

    - Ghalenoei earns a lot of money as well, more than he deserves - but since he is Iranian (on paper)

Well, I asked for your opinion so if you like the IFFHS ranking (that's NOT a FIFA ranking) that's fine.

I personally wouldn't rank the J-league above Iran as their teams have consistently underperformed in the ACL in that past 5 years and 3 out of 4 of them are ranked at the the bottom of their respective groups this year as well. It's pretty close between the IPL and the other 4 leagues as far as I'm concerned (overall ranking).

But this takes everything (budget, infrastructure, etc.) into account, not just talent. Surely you'd agree that other than talent, every other aspect of our football program is a downer and significantly reducing our ranking.

I'd say that rankings are pretty much right, except that i'd definately put Iran above China, and maybe above Japan.
Yup, except for the fact that China (and arguably Saudi Arabia) is in front of Iran I also agree with the list.

Well that's pretty good actually. Better than the MLS, Swedish league, Polish league etc... I would say it's a fair assessment if we measure the league as a whole, taking into consideration that our league isn't as good as it should be because of the corruption, lack of infrastructure, big signings etc... However speaking about domestic talent, we are definitely a top 2-3 in Asia.

That's incorrect. The cold-war era definition was based on alignment with NATO (1st), Eastern block (2nd) and non-aligned (3rd World). That definition is archaic and han't been used for ages.

Any post cold-war definition is generally in reference to under-developed nations with developing nations being 2nd world and developed nations being 1st (that development can be industrialization or human development as measured by the HDI).

As I said, the only reason Iran is currently somewhere between 1 & 2 is IR's economic isolation and foreign/domestic policies, otherwise we would be in the G20 and have a high enough HDI to be in the most developed nations.

Spanish Primera División is the Strongest National League of the World for the fourth time in a row

First of all, I wouldn't tell someone to look up the definition of something if I wasn't sure about it. Maybe you should do the same.

Secondly, what's the relevance of me having worked in Iran as an adult to Iran being a 3rd world country or not?! My working there or not (or you having worked as an adult in Yemen or not) does not change the definition of what a 3rd World country is - it's not a subjective term.

The rest of your post didn't have anything to do with my post.

There's a HUGE grey area between we have no talent and we have so much talent we don't know what to do with, isn't there?!

That's the problem with some of the arguments you guys put forth - everything has to either be one extreme or the other, so there's often no objective look at where we truly stand.

No, IPL is not the greatest league in the world or in the top 10. But it's not the shittiest league in the world or in the bottom 10 either.
