I don't think it's a question of them not being willing to deliver so much as not being able to deliver. At the end of the day it is what it is.
And CQ being as AMAZING as he is and putting the selfish feelings aside, will surely be better off somewhere else and working with a professional organization.
I'm sure he will build on his exemplary and most remembered and talked about career achievements of losing to Spain 1-0, losing to Argentina 1-0, and beating S. Korea 1-0 with 10 amateur special Olympics boys - of course not to downplay his great achievement of elevating Iran to a 1st place finish in an Asian Cup group for the 1st and last time ever.
It's tough to outdo himself on these accomplishments, but if anyone can do it, CQ would be the man. So best of luck to him.

offside jan, i agree that my shades do not see things you see, you have special shades which you see whole pictures of non existing pictures with. i never said his reason for quitting was because of jahanbakhsh or azmoun in fact i was talking about him being wrong in this situation and khakpour being right.


look we have to ask ourselves what we are paying cq for, if he is to over see our whole football and make big changes then he is worth every penny. however if he is there to just see his own results and be result oriented only for tm then he should ve been fired yesterday when he did not get results. if not after the world cup (which i agree that at that time it would ve been a mistake to fire him) then he should ve been fired already after asian cup.


in this situation with azmoun and jahanbakhsh, he is showing that he does not give a damn about our Olympic qualification and seems more interested in his own job as tm head coach thus imo and for the reasons mentioned above has to be judged by his results alone and no matter how many xbox aficionados say his results are spectacular they are indeed sub par and not worth all this, besides i think cq has given iran what he knows and can not add anything more. he has done a great job we must build on his work and improve as current level is not going to win anything of note.

Hzv jan, I don't wear special shades, but I would pay a good sum to buy yours. I do agree that we should always build and improve upon prior accomplishments. One would have to wear the kind of shades you wear just to locate that miracle coach who can coach TM, coach U21, deal with the media, strategize, make hotel reservations and plan other logistics including dealing with last minute stops at the airport for tax evasion all while trying to scout opponents named Messi.

If you can that coach, please enlighten us. Right now, most of our TM ex-coaches are either mamnooal-vorood or mamnooal-khorouj.

Guys, please stop bashing U23 coaches. (Constructive criticism is good though.) Khakpour was a respected defender with Iran's France 1998 squad, and has youth coaching experience in the U.S. Also, Kashani is a great manager for day to day agenda of the team. Together they can bring the ship home.

Why would I say it, if I didn't believe it?! One day you guys argue that IFF is a bunch of unprofessional idiots and we're lacking the facilities and infrastructure in Iran, yada yada yda and the next day you make it sound like everything's honkey dorey there for a $3.0 million a year coach and they just don't want to work with him.

And the 2nd sentence sums up the majority of my issues with hardcore CQ fans. If you really have to resort to naming MK & GN (who I doubt were getting paid 1/10th of CQ and had zero international experience) every time to make a case for CQ being good or worth it, you've set the bar AWFULLY low, which also explains why 1-0 losses to Spain or Argentina are his most remembered and talked about achievements.

In regards to 88% of the TM fans supporting CQ, I highly doubt the number is as high after this latest fiasco because I was in the 88% myself until a few weeks ago - not to mention that "support" is a loaded word because most fans would support most TM coaches by default of supporting TM. But there's a certain hypocrisy here as well because 99.9% of the fans are not professional coaches to have any credentials to even formulate an opinion on a professional coach as some of you would argue, so their opinions shouldn't matter!

But that litmus test apparently applies to the 12% only. At any rate, 99.8% of Iranians supported the IR and 75% of them participated in the last election too. Why not extend the argument to say IR was the right choice for Iran in 1979 or that the 75% turnout in the last election shows not only that they support the IR, but that it's the best choice for Iran at the moment?

I'm not asking rhetorical questions, I just want to understand why we change the standards every day to suit a specific argument.

Iranian and vatani coaches have made it impossible for ANYONE from the outside to come and work in Iran. I understand to some extent why. They are insecure, untrained, unsure of their skills and hungry and need to make a living. So, the best way to put food on your table is to hire some newspaper directors (have them in your back pocket) and use them both inside and outside of Iran to put pressure on the foreign coaches to run them off. So far it has worked...
But here is what I am saying....

Now that bronko, Krunchar, Blazovic, Denizli and CQ are gone, lets hold these coaches responsible and accountable. Lets tell them that now mr khakpour and mr Kashani, you must produce. No excuses.

Those who approve of CQ: Dejagah, Gucci and everyone else on the national team, plus only about 88% of the country.

Those who disapprove of CQ: An assortment of random internet luminaries including a very sane bird flu expert, a legendary tactician for the best U-15 girl team within 2 blocks of his house, and a perfectly normal racist whose definition of logic is screaming about white people.

I don't know, seems like a toss up to me.
