Activists Ask FIFA to Intervene to End Iran’s Ban on Women in Stadiums

Honestly, who cares about other countries like Saudi? They can go to hell and do whatever they like. If FIFA bans Iran for something like this, they have my 100% support. Iran needs to change. Saudis can stay or go backwards 10000 steps for all I care.Originally posted by jahandoost View PostThis is a great idea ONLY if applied across all FIFA nations rather than ALWAYS putting the spotlight on Iran whether right or wrong.
But the question is; are we able to reform the footballing cultural norms which have accumulated throughout the years in Iran? Its one thing to just open the doors for female spectators, families etc. But have the appropriate foundations been prepared to deal with the aftermath? Can it be ensured that once women and families attend matches they are in a family friendly and female safe environment?

When were women allowed in the stadium in full? Yes I believe for a brief moment they made a "women's section" without legislative approval that was immediately revoked...However, I do remember IFF letting our team and federation get banned with complacency. I do not believe IFF can challenge the prevailing rule in government, and if officials say no women, it is out of Kaffashian's hands. Heck even CQ who is usually vocal, refused to answer reports questions and comments about allowing women in stadiums during AC. This isn't a federation policy, after all we do have a women's program. This is a legislative/parliamentary policy. Look at how they handled sanctions, and the nuclear issue...their approach to politics should cue us in on how they will handle sports legislation.Originally posted by rugs View PostI wouldn't call it a hostile act. Iran would have no choice and it would only support those calling for this to happen and give them strength. Not to mention people in the IR and IFF have already stated that this should happen.
They already did it to Iran once in the past and Iran caved, and that was under AN when they suspended the IFF for gov't interference in 2006.
