I think that would also be the best incentive to draw some serious fans into the stadium after what happened with PP/Al-Hilal and with both teams in general in Saudi Arabia. And we all know Naft could use some fans in the stadium in their home games.

Naft are also (1-0-0) against Qatar and (0-1-1) against UAE with a terrible goal difference - and that was against Al-Ain that got eliminated.

Having said that, Al-Hilal also have the best record against IPL teams out of all of Naft's potential opponents. This is the record of Naft's potential opponents in the next round against IPL teams in this year's competition (W-D-L):

      Al-Hilal: 2 - 1 - 1
      Al-Ahli: 1 - 0 - 1
      Lekhwiya: 1 - 0 - 1
      Quater-finals Draw

Al-Hilal vs. Lekhwiya, home game on Aug 25th, return Sep 15

Naft vs. Al-Ahli (home game on Aug 26th, return Sep 15)

I know most people wanted Naft to get Al-Ahli, but as per my above post, Naft had the best record against Saudi teams and worst record against UAE teams.

Also, considering Al-Hilal were fined by AFC to play their next home game in an empty stadium, that would have been the best possible draw IMHO.

At any rate, to be champions you have to be able to beat any team and best of luck to Naft. They need to sort out their issues quickly and get back into form.

Well... Al Ahli UAE, Naft's QF opponent, is after Demba Ba.

huh there was not really a draw, in futbol24.com the following matches (team 1 vs. team 2) and so on were even drawn when the latest matches were running, so nothing special with the draws, it was drawn before..

These guys spend more money on foreign players for their domestic league and ACL, than focus on their national team.

Out of all the Persian Gulf arab countries, UAE seems to be the only team who is doing fairly well as a national team.

Note: Al-Ahli midfielder Everton Ribeiro is more expensive than the whole Naft squad.

I thought he was a right back or left back. I guess he is so expensive that they just use him anywhere.[emoji12]

We're just over 24 hours from match time gentlemen:

                        Naft Tehran vs. Al-Ahli Dubai

                        August 26th @ Azadi Stadium

                        19:00 Local Time, 16:30 CEST, 10:30 EST.

Naft is obviously not off to the best start in the PGL without a win in 4 games, but no better time to register their first win of the season than tomorrow!
Al-Ahli is at the exact opposite end of the scale, having got off to a GREAT start at home with an 8-1 victory (not a typo) against Al-Fujairah who finished 9th last season, only 2 spots ahead of Al-Ahli. Last season, Al-Ahli beat them 4-0 at home and tied 1-1 away, so either Al-Fujairah declined significantly, or this Al-Ahli team is much better than the one from last season.

I wasn't really happy with this draw from the beginning, but nothing we can do about it at this point other than to throw in all our support behind the only remaining team from Iran and keep fingers crossed (little praying won't hurt) that Mansourian & Co. will put on a one-of-a-kind performance tomorrow.

as much as we don't like arab teams they area a key to our success aswell, for asia to be taken seriously we need arab club teams to be strong along with our teams, right now ACL is the 3rd biggest top level club continental championship (way concacaf and caf). with proper planning and more money it can surpass copa libertadores. asia has a lot of potential and lets hope there is some good football today.
