one thing that some people in this thread are missing is that it is highly essential to finish on top of the group.
The top 2 DO NOT MAKE IT.
There is 10 groups.
The 10 group winners AND 5 best ranked 2nd placed teams make it.
with alot of shitty teams, there is bound to some goals scored and upsets caused which may put countries like Iran in jeopardy if other teams have high GD, goals scored against etc.
Still it's unlikely that Iran won't make it but it's not guaranteed.
The top 15 would then join the hosts to make it a 16 team tournament just like Asian Cup 2015.

I doubt that Palestine will beat us, but upsets happen.Originally posted by ali alipour View PostIf palestine u23 should be a team that we should worry about at home then whats the point of even sending a team to the main tournament
We lost to Lebanon, shouldn't we have bothered sending our team to the world cup?

That was away on a farming pitch. Also Lebanon beat korea at home. We beat them 4-0 at home. Lebanese football is stronger than PalestinianOriginally posted by Camran khan View PostI doubt that Palestine will beat us, but upsets happen.

You can repeat that another 100 times bro, but it doesn't seem to sink in!Originally posted by Farhad-7 View Postone thing that some people in this thread are missing is that it is highly essential to finish on top of the group.
And that's based on the fact that they got thrashed by the Saudis today or that they finished last in their Asian Games group, while we finished first?!Originally posted by ali alipour View PostIf palestine u23 should be a team that we should worry about at home then whats the point of even sending a team to the main tournament

on the fact that kafashian has stated that the goal is to make the Olympics and that a big reason why azmoun and jb weren't allowed to play for an already short handed tm. If they can't beat Palestine u23 at home with the same squad that would be playing at the main tournament, then we should forget about even competing against Korea, Japan, Australia, Uzbekistan, UAE.Originally posted by Bi-honar View Post

IF the argument is National team players don't play for U22 teams , it does not matter if he was reserve or starter but just to answer you he was starter in his first game against Palestine in 2013 with National team. Today in 2015 played with U22 against palestine as starter too. It's about age and national interest as seen by Federation and coach.Originally posted by saadat_abad View Posthow many of those 2 games has he started? if came on as a sub, how many minutes has he gotten? are SA also playing Chile and Sweden this week? i dont think so.

There is only one reasonable explanation for this. Shitty Iranian management style. Going into match with Doaye Komeyl and no preparation. If that's the case and they have messed up everything so they thought If we add JB and SA, we can save our ass for this round and then we come up with something for next round in Qatar. I can see Kashani saying " vaght ke ziade ta on moghe khoda bozorge, bezar felan poolaro bokhorim ta bad".Originally posted by ali alipour View Poston the fact that kafashian has stated that the goal is to make the Olympics and that a big reason why azmoun and jb weren't allowed to play for an already short handed tm. If this not the case and team is already good to pass this level as most of us expect that, then it shows their messed up priority and low self esteem.

I am just tired of to see those who were die heart anti-CQ using any lame reason to prioritize JB and SA being in U23 over TM and causing this mess by backing up Goudarz/Kashani/Mayeli gang. In every NT team and football association you go the Head coach has the final saying for player selection not the other way around. Iran showed a backward attitude here. You don't believe me just do your own research, but don't come back and tell me Pakistan does it too.

You forgot what is their significant in their NT? are they a random call up, a bench warmer or among final 11 or key players like SA and JB? I beg you see the difference and do not use the straw-man logic here.Originally posted by St_Mark View PostTo B-Honar
