You guys never fully read a post. I said we played bee gheyrat after our 1st goal until iraq scored their 2nd. Thats when our gheyrat kicked in and i admire them for that but too little too late. We shouldve buried the game in first half. We scored and iraq sucked and instead of scoring a 2nd we slowed the game down and decided to hold the ball for 65min til the clock runs out. Thats what pissed me off. We handed the game to them. Sure we fought to make a come back but we shouldve never let those fukks even have a chance. Its like the story of rostam o sohrab...we reacted way too late.

We played with gheyrat for 120 minutes (minus some moments but that is natural).

The red card took it out of the boys for a little but they came back and came back hard. Just because we didn't score again in normal time does not mean we did not try. It was bloody hot out there and players had to cover for each other.

Hosseini was everywhere winning all the high balls. Ando and Nek protected our back 4 tremendously and the forward players were constantly tracking back to help out the defense.

I couldn't be more happy of the boys and their heart to challenge when 1 man down for 70 minutes.

I guess I am a glass half full kind of guy and there is always glass half empty Iranians. At times it seems like our culture to be pessimists but damn I am proud of the majority or Iran supporters and for once appreciating our boys even in defeat.

I agree that pouladi was at fault for that second yellow card. He left his foot in late towards the goalkeeper when he already had the ball and then went down like he was shot by a M24...if he didn't do that the ref wouldn't have any excuse to send him off.
Also lets not kid ourselves, we lost in penalties fair and square, one can speculate for ever how the game would pan out if pouladi was not sent off.

Our defense totally collapsed in the second half. I haven't seen them defending that bad for a long time, it reminded me of the pre-CQ era. Horrible and amateurish mistakes from our defensive line and Haghighi didn't look well too. But it's too late now, Asian Cup is history.

Just like some of us were saying it would bro. Look, CQ's tactics are fine for single games here and there and when players get lots of rest and recovery time in between.

But it has been proven twice now in a tournament setting that if you don't take the pressure off your defense with some good sustained offense, they will eventually collapse under cumulative pressure, be it at the end of the 2nd game against stronger opponents or in the middle of a 4th game against weaker opponents.

Let's face, the pressure got to Ehsan after just one game and he was pretty much a zombie for the rest of the tournament. It took Pouladi 3 games to completely lose his mind! Pourlaliganji surprisingly went until the end of the 3rd game to make a serious mistake.

Hosseini was becoming progressively more tired and less focused and provided progressively less coverage for his players as the games went on. The only one who played well in the 4th game was Ghafouri because he sat out the 3rd game and had some good recovery. Even Ashkan looked like crap half way through 4th game constantly chasing balls upfront and coming all the way back to defend every 45 seconds.

What CQ is asking our players to do is just too much, mentally, physically and emotionally. Half the time they don't even know which direction they're running in because the game is so scrappy.

Yes, Pouladi was at fault. There is no question that some of the blame should be placed on him for being so careless to put himself in a position for that piece of filth ref to give him a second yellow.

The question is how much blame goes to Pouladi? The overwhelming majoiry of the blame should go on Ben Williams. What Pouladi did in the sequence that got him a second yellow would NOT be a yellow in a MAJORITY of decisions by other refrees. Nothing he did warranted a 2nd yellow. Was he stupid for giving a biased and blatantly partial ref an excuse to give him a 2nd yellow? Yes, absolutely. However, what Ben Williams did was inexcusable and totally outside the norms of impartiality. I guarantee you that the overwhelming majority of neutral supporters would state that it was Ben Williams that deserves most of the blame. A lot of neutral news outlets have already blasted/criticized Ben Williams. This situation is not even close between who deserves more blame. Ben Williams wins this contest by a landslide.

Before the Iraqi keeper pushes Pooladi the ref points at the center which means "zarbe kashte" and therefor the ref didn't mean Pooladi attacked the keeper. But when the Keeper pushes Pooladi falls which means he give the second Card for time wasting. No Card to the keeper saying hey I am the boss I decied. Then he remembers Pooladi has already one yellow! He shows he is not in control of the game!
Pooladi didn't act right but the ref stressed him.

I am not going to blame any player for our loss because at the same time we put up a heroic performance by coming back twice with a man down. You simply can't discredit them for that. But what bothers me was certainly the way how our defense looked. Totally the opposite from the past 4 years of solidness.

That said, Pooladi got 2 undeserved yellows. Would there have been a normal referee, Iran beat Iraq with 3-0 and we would be analyzing the Korea game now.

Time to look forward and learn from it. Qualification to the World Cup 2018 and making it to the Round of 16 should be our main aim for the following 4 years. With Carlos Queiroz, hopefully we will accomplish that.

I want Iraq in our next World Cup Qualifying campaign.

I don't know if it was done. But if yes, then pouladi's fault may be even greater for not listening to the advise. Of not, then a part of coaching is such things too.
