Or maybe what he is "hearing" are the same sources from Iraq we have seen which are being mistranslated and he is taking them seriously.Originally posted by bozghaleh View PostMaybe he has inside news, and they're just going through the motions to make it look like they believe in "fair play."

AFC are sort of screwed...
Disqualifying Iraq is majority embarrassing for them and the legitimacy of the cup
Letting Iraq off the hook basically means they're condoning what is essentially cheating
Banning Iraq for the next game and handing Korea a free win is hugely unfair to Australia/Uae
What do they do??

Same scenario as now but OUR teams were disqualified and sepahans opponent al sadd were given 3-0 and they went and won ACL. But now they are taking their sweet time. Bastards !Originally posted by diz View PostWhat happened with U23 and sepahan? sorry, I did not follow those teams/cases. was it a doping case as well? Thanks.

@minirum I think the only way they can save face is to say that the player and Iraqi FA were never notified because FIFA never officially banned the player. So, even though the player tested positive, he is not officially banned until such a ban is put in effect by the governing body. I can't see any other way out of this for the AFC, assuming that the player was indeed officially banned from participating in any games.

My gut is that they will try to get Iraq FA and IFF to agree to a replay and delay the upcoming matches 3 or 4 days. They know the precedence is to award 3-0 to Iran, and IFF will undoubtedly bring up our experiences with punishment for fielding ineligible players...but they will also this way let the Koreans prepare for their opponent, and let the Iraqis and TM have one more chance at it. My gut says it will be replay.Originally posted by minirum View PostAFC are sort of screwed...
