After seeing our subpar offensive performance against Qatar, I'm a bit nervous for this match. Some players should be rested.

I would suggest to UAE use its B team and increase their chances of making it to SEMI.
If they play with A and even if they win or tie they will be very tired after a game with TM and they will lose their next match possibly.
B versus B would be perfect condition and both will go to SEMI after a good rest and defeating iraq(..) and japan.

Aussies lost to Korea so if we top our group we avoid them until the final, that is if they can pass Japan in the semi-final.Originally posted by eerooni View PostIn the opinion of a few pundits it would be preferable for TM to tie or even lose theUAE game and play Japan and avoid Austalia in the quarters. I agree. Let's go big. Get the japs out of the way and get to the finals

PRE-MATCH DISCUSSION | vs. UAE - Asian Cup 2015
I wouldn't necessarily rule us out of beating Japan. We can defend like hell and hit them on the counter. It's worked before so even if we do face Japan, it won't be dead and buried before the ball is even kicked.
Having said that it would be optimal if we can avoid them as much as possible.
Both Japan and SK have just like us not conceded yet so they will both be tough to break down.
Heck even Iraq put on a great shift against the champions of Asia so wouldn't rule them out either.
Who said that the asian cup isn't competitive. I could even see China beat Australia!

Iraq was Japan's punching bag. They finished the game with a respectable scoreline thanks to Japan who missed too many chances. A lot of people praise Iraq and discount Japan just because the game was only 1-0.Originally posted by littlepersia17 View PostI wouldn't necessarily rule us out of beating Japan. Some updates and news on TM
* PAG did not attend practice to avoid inflaming a minor injury - all the rumors about CQ not letting him practice are untrue.
* Contrary to some other rumors, Ashkan is fit and ready for the UAE match (he did not practice today either - due to fatigue)
* Third and last player who did not do regular practice with other players was Pouladi, but he is also fine, just tired.
* Apparently there was some friction in the camp after the Qatar game: Ando was selected man of the match but one of our other players (not specified) jokingly told him, what did you do to be selected as MOTM? Another player nearby (also not specified) laughs to this comment and apparently Ando lost it. A few other players and some TM staff got involved an deescalated the situation. This incident is most likely the reason for the other rumors.
* But on a lighter note, Mahdavikia gheyb goft! "Japan will be a tougher opponent than Iraq in the quarters"!
