Unless, you know, Australia has an off day and loses to Uzbekistan in the QF's and Japan loses to UAE in the QF. It's entirely possible. Japan was slated to destroy in 2007 as well, and neither them nor Australia made the finals. It could easily be the same this time. Don't get ahead of yourself. Japan has done nothing more, nothing less with an easier group than us, so please stop saying they will "likely" be in the final. Their chance is the same as ours.

Okay, so my argument that teams can lose in QF is that ridiculous now?? Iran can easily lose to anyone anytime according to you all, but me saying Japan may lose to a decent UAE team in QF is like saying Palestine can beat Spain. CQ has brought discipline into the ranks, has organise our defence like no other time, has brought self belief in our players. He brings hope to the fans. Just His presence raises the profile of our team, how many time have I heard how he was the coach of Real Madrid and assistant to ferguson being mentioned on TV. Surely our team is much better placed than when he arrived.

I am sure if physically our players can remain strong we will make the finals of this Asia cup. My only worry is that so many games in such a short time will start to tell on the players and they won't be able to deploy the tactics on match days.

Every time Iran gets a new coach I hear the same stuff but I don't see any significant change. Ghotbi, Daei, the dude from Bosnia etc etc. To say that a 10 man behind the ball 1-0 loss to Argentina being a highlight under CQ kinda supports my position. There's just no fear to be had when a team is too defensive. No great team has ever come from the theory of "we can defend well and hit on the counter". That's not how you play if you want to be the best that's how you play when you are happy to progress through tournaments but not win them.

Japan played an average games against basically an Iraq U 23 Side with little experience. So far I'm not impressed with any team except ours. We have depth and we have non single stars we can rely on. We Have lots of stars of which all can score. No team knows how to stop us when you have 5-6 of your players who can score!

IMO humble opinion if we beat the UAE comfortably then we can safely assume we are in the final. The UAE will,pose the biggest obstacle. Ourjob ain't done

I don't know why some people are putting them down. Beside the first 10 minutes of the second half, Japan totally controlled the game.

That's why CQ is liked by many because so many are happy with such results.

Better to play football in a way which gives you a chance (even a slim one) of achieving the goal of winning the tournament than to play in a fashion which gives you none. Australia played good football that tournament and were in the hardest group, scored some good goals and really made an effort to win every game. CQ's tactics already told his team they were not good enough to beat good teams like Argentina and Nigeria. That's not a good attitude to convey on your players and is counter-productive if you want to give your players belief that they can really achieve.

I'd take Australia's performance at the last WC over the single point Iran got any day of the week.

As far as we have not played Japan, Australia or Korea and won matches can vi not claim to be better than other teams.....the truth is we dont know yet our capability in comparison to the Asian top teams.

Its just to wait to see how we do against the top teams...will we park the buss ...or are we going to play brave football and smothly football.......

We will be able to see the realitity of TM,s capability after the UAE match...starting with Iraq and then the matches after that.

I don't deny they are stronger than Iraq All I say is Australia will be more dificult for Iran to beat than Japan. If we plan to win the champeonship it will be better to delay a face off with Australia til Final but if we plan to go as long as we can we should win our group
and face Australia in semi final.
