Can't wait for the day when Sardar will start using his head more and taking advantage of his height. That'll happen through playing more matches in Team Melli and building a bond with his teammates. Especially his teammates who cross the ball to him.

The efficiency and lack of cohesiveness is expected since this is the first game in 5 months. Considering this was irans first game and koreas sixth, a great result. Also the korea coach saying this wasnt for revenge was pure bs they were playing a fully competitive game and only made 1 or 2 subs after the 80th minute whereas cq started making numerous subs from 60th minute on.

in fact, if the roles were reversed, and the Koreans had brought in 4 substitutes, some of our experts would call our win meaningless since we're really playing against their "C" team.

The Koreans brought their A game and they lost.

I think Jahanbakhsh will start and Azmoun will get some minutes in the end of the game... The game plan will probably be the same as the WC qualifier game in Tehran were we played a good passing game and had good opportunities on crosses. I predict we win with a one goal margin and our goal/goals will be scored on aerial balls.

I was a fan of Shojaie 'till now but he performs very bad on Asian national stage, i think he should be a sub in the last 20-30 minutes. Gucci on the other hand is a great player but his playing style doesn't match how TM is playing currently. TM is depending on long aerial passes and crosses too score but Gucci simply doesn't have the right height and physicality to score these goals. If Gucci was a tad taller he would perform much much better. Anyways, i was simply pointing out that Iran played way better in the final minutes of the game with mostly IPL players. I'm not saying that we should bench all of the Legionaries but i hadn't seen that type of explosive play and good passing from Iran in a long time.

I agree with you. We need Shojaee and Gucci at start to use their experience to fight and keep the scores level and once the opponent is outta gas, that's when Iran starts to cross and likes of Azmoun are needed. That's why I said each game will have its unique characteristics. Iran against other Asian teams (except Korea and Australia and somewhat Japan); will need taller players however the rest of Asia we will adopt a non arial game and resort on full attacks from CDM ,RW, CAM, CF and LW. In such situation, explosive experienced Gucci will have lots to say. Nevertheless I agree with you that Azmoun will be a great sub when necessary until he is more experienced to start. The point is he will eventually dictate himself to the lineup if he continues to be opportunistic and smart.

TM would have had so many more attacks, but our midfielders passes and crosses were horrendous. There was a clear plan to move it up the wings, but the players executed poorly at that stage.
