We will not win any competitions as long as we are so weak emotionally and psychologically. What I mean are the penalty shoot-outs. The quality between the teams are getting smaller and smaller by day. You barely have any pushovers anymore. So the chances of getting into another sery of PKSO's after the group stages are really high, and everyone knows we greatly suck at it!

We should hire a German coach and a good psychologist just to train this (underestimated) part of the game with us!

Just a German caretaker/assistant coach, or even a psychologist, would be a good idea imo. Germans are really strong psychologically and seem to peak and thrive under immense pressure (they have rarely lost PKSO's in big tournaments), in contrary to Iranian players.

As Iran has shown in football and almost every sport the hardest games are going to be the ones against the weaker teams especially the arab ones. So the group stage and possibly quarter finals are going to be the hardest part. In fact we are always eliminated by powerhouses at the Asian Cup. 1992 vs Japan, 1996 vs Saudi Arabia, 2000 vs S. Korea, 2007 vs S. Korea, 2011 vs S. Korea. The only exception is 2004 vs China because the Chinese cheated.

The bigger reason we won the Asian Cup three consecutive times between 1968 and 1976 is that the tournament was less competitive than today's and 2 of our 3 titles were won on home soil. Unlike us, Saudi Arabia and Japan won 3 times on neutral venue.
