No, this is not right. qatar means host, extra asian team. so if japan or australia should get it, this means still 4,5 places (which we have right now). better chance for iran to qualify if japan gets it...Originally posted by TAJ_LIVERPOOL View PostWouldn't Qatar automatically qualifying for the WC leave only 3 spots left for Asian teams? Wouldn't it make it harder for us to qualify?

The only thing what can be done is just to boycott that world cup in qatar.
I for sure will boycott it.
If FIFA doesn't move it i will set up a channel myself and wait for the draws. Then i will broadcast every possible match on that channel from former World Cups.
IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.

Sad but that's the reality.Originally posted by OFFSIDE_1 View Postwell, you can't take away their WC because of the hot weather, islamic laws or lack of fans. These issues were known prior to them getting the WC. They would have a legal case against FIFA given the billions they've already spent. Also every future country would have concerns about spending enormous amount of money and having the games taken away from them. I don't think even the dying workers could be used against them.
The only way FIFA could legally take the WC away from Qatar is to prove that bribery happened. Now good luck on that. That would be like the US congress voting a paycut for themselves.

What was also previously known is this: Their bid was to host in the summer in 12 stadiums that would be air conditioned and covered by robot clouds. Now it has become 8 stadiums (if even that) in the winter with no air conditioning or robot clouds. And that's completely ignoring the bribing that was done. It's like someone getting quotes for building a pool in their yard and they pick someone and the guy comes and paints their stairs instead while jacking up the original quote price and then tries to sue for being fired from the job.Originally posted by OFFSIDE_1 View Postwell, you can't take away their WC because of the hot weather, islamic laws or lack of fans. yes, but the minimum number of stadiums required by FIFA is eight, so they have obviously had the "behind the door" discussions with FIFA before reducing the number. Yes, they have gone back on their word, but unless FIFA wants to make it an issue, it's a non-issue. It's only an issue if FIFA makes it an issue.Originally posted by KC McElroy View PostWhat was also previously known is this: Their bid was to host in the summer in 12 stadiums that would be air conditioned and covered by robot clouds. No doubt there was bribery. This is as corrupt as it gets, BUT, it takes two to tango. For FIFA to open this up, it would mean some of their own people would be incriminating themselves. FIFA as the governing body of football would lose credibility and I just don't think they have the stomach for it.
On the bright side, let them waste their oil and gas money on these useless stadiums. They can barely fill up the existing stadiums. I would be much more concerned and envious if they spent those dollars on universities and industries.“It is easier to fool the people, than to convince them they have been fooled." - Mark Twain

Should FIFA take the World Cup away from Qatar, there is absolutely no loss. It's one thing to take a World Cup away from Brazil and have their Federation pull out of FIFA; it's another to lose a non-accomplished minnow nation that hires mercenaries.
If they want to keep it in Asia but try somewhere new, I believe Australia is a deserving host. They did an excellent job hosting the 2000 Olympics and I'm sure they'll do the same in 2015 with the AFC Asian Cup. Another excellent candidate is Japan. Not only will they be hosting the 2020 Olympics which means that their facilities will be up to date, I'm completely mesmerized by the thought of having the Japanese develop the holographic technology as they said they would.

But should Fifa revert back to equal continental distribution of The WC then it should go back to N. America which by the year 2022 will not have hosted a WC in 28 years. Thus Canada with all of its world class stadiums deserves to host the Qatar games.Originally posted by K. Nader View PostShould FIFA take the World Cup away from Qatar, there is absolutely no loss. I don't deny Canada's capability to be good hosts. After all, they've hosted multiple tournaments over the past 7-8 years and will even be hosting the Women's World Cup next year. It ultimately depends on whether or not FIFA would open the panel to new nations would choose from the previous pool of candidates (Japan, Australia, S. Korea, and the United States). Canada will be making a huge push for the 2026 World Cup and if the 2022 Word Cup stays in Asia, I believe Canada will have an excellent chance of hosting the 2026 edition.Originally posted by O-ZoNe View PostBut should Fifa revert back to equal continental distribution of The WC then it should go back to N. FIFA doesn't need to make an issue of these things. As long as other countries do, particularly Brazil and Germany, that's all it will take. FIFA will not risk a World Cup where these countries will sit out.Originally posted by OFFSIDE_1 View Postyes, but the minimum number of stadiums required by FIFA is eight, so they have obviously had the "behind the door" discussions with FIFA before reducing the number.
