. Only option we have to really have a chance is to win against Egypt , I think a tie or a lose and we are completely out ….

I believe a tie will not be enough. there are many teams with 3+ points ahead of our 2 pts and better goal difference.

It is mathematically possible to go through with 2 points. But it requires a lot of draws in the other groups.

it is very disappointing, that we only had New Zealand to beat and we basically in the round of 32 , that was the only basic requirement…..

If this IRI coaches staff of GN , Rahman rezaei, Ando , human afzel can not beat Eygpt , they all should be fired right after the game and be banned from coaching in Iran forever ,,,,

They were stuck for 5 hours at immigration day before New Zealand match.

I was very disappointed that we couldn’t beat New Zealand. But when you take into account the circumstances: war, league shut down, cancelled friendlies, visa issues, and not having adequate time before or after matches, I give them a pass.

How can you not especially after their draw with Belgium? I’m already very proud of this team, and for two games in a row our side won player of the match.

I just hope we get our formation and lineup right, since this will be a game of fine margins. If we do, we can beat this Egypt team.

If we advance I would prefer us to play a team like Scotland. Playing Canada in front their home crowd will be very difficult.

A win against Egypt will likely place Iran as the 2nd in the group, with the assumtiom that Belgium will win its encounter with New Zealand with a higher goal difference than Iran will. In this scenario the 2nd of Group G will face the 2nd of Group D, which at this point it will likely be either of Paraguay or Australia.

A tie against Egypt will place Iran in 3rd place of the Group G with 3 points and 0 GD. At the moment there are at least 2 to 3, third place finishers in other groups that will end up with 4 points, meaning there will be a maximum of 5 places for teams with 3 points. Now becuase Iran is the only team with 3 draws and 0 GD, chances will be higher for Iran to go through to next round, as other 3 point teams have loses with negative GD. The opponents for third place finishers in Round of 32 are determined in accordance with a complex FIFA formula which includes 495 possibilities for such assignment. For Group G however there are fewer permutations which limits it to either the 2nd of Group B (Canada, Bosnia, Swiss, Qatar) or 1st of Group I, (France, Senegal, Norway, Iraq). At this point it will likely be either Canada/Swiss from Group B or France from Group I.

Maybe easier to just get eliminated!! :-)
