I am thinking rationally about this, without emotion. This old team and this coach can't handle another high-pressure game. IRI has already done its best against NZ and Belgium. I just do not see any gas and emotion left in the tank for them to pull this off.

Logically, no. After a high-emotion game against Belgium, it's really hard to replicate that, especially with this team and coaching staff.

They only think that I could see happening is that the Egypt and Salah have an off day. They are riding high on emotions too and egypt is not a consistent team.

Isn't the adversity caused by IR though? It's basically self-inflicted, I don't want this perspective getting out that IR failed because of Trump in this tournament. I am not a Trump fan and have not been in the past, but when you make enemies of the world where 90%+ of countries will not back you up because you pissed everyone off being an asshole to the world, you kind of get what is coming to you. No other teams are facing this not because of poor old IR team is so handsome they can't let them in the US too long. It's because IR has actively been an antagonist to the world for the last 47 years. Canada will have issue with Iran if they advance as 3rd place too, believe me. IR blew up their plane a few years ago and killed their citizens. The friendly there was cancelled a few years ago if you remember.

You get what you deserve in my opinion, and all of these players, fans of IR or not, suffer because of IR. Our coach touted a draw against a 2nd tier (low 1st tier on their best day) European team in Belgium with their most lethal player in Doku out, their golden generation (No Eden Hazard) and stars in De Bruyne and Lukaku pretty much washed up, AND a man down for almost 30 mins as a historical result when any confident team/coach would smell blood after the red card and go for the win. His retarded subs took both CDM & CM out and put in Moghanlu (When that spot belongs to Azmoun, Hosseinnejad, Sayadmanesh who aren't there for reasons beyond Football) and it almost resulted in conceding a goal and losing.Their first game in which they fell behind twice against an 84th ranked FIFA team in NZ that should have been a W so that they're not in this predicament in the last day of the group stage and a tie would've have for sure gotten them thru to be amongst the 32 teams (starting from 0 compared to all previous world cups)!
