All part of IR's plan. They usurped the national team to make people hate them so much and doubly did everything in their power to sabotage any success this team would have. They want Iranians to suffer in every facet of life and have no hope, but will do just enough for the regime itself to win political points internationally. Anyone who doesn't understand that the WC has been a whitewashing campaign every 4 years for IR and not something IR wants the team to succeed in is living in fantasy land. That's one of the main reasons I don't support the team and was praying for their downfall. I knew it was a foregone conclusion they would get eliminated early and play like shit (anyone saying 3 draws in a horrible group with all the advantages given to the team, I laugh that you think such an abject failure was any kind of "success"), but even worse, I knew that IR was only using this whole tournament as a means to propagandize about the war and complain at every turn about the "unfair treatment".Originally posted by Iran_19 View Post

Any reasonable coach under a normal government with even half-assed funding and player development and we finish this world cup with 9 points in the group and probably quarterfinalists with the path that was ahead of us. We really had the easiest group, and easiest path after the group, and I just knew we would blow it. Only needed to beat Qatar and Jordan to be asian champions, and the same result. What do you people want? Under IR, be prepared to forever be disappointed and I think caring about TM honestly just makes you a fool. How many more times will you fall for it?

Historically, the forum goes dead after the WC as people go back to their lives. The war leading to no external transfer of players, the regime in a precarious position, and the hate that many feel towards some players and the regime takeover of the TM...all of these are reasons additionally to the dysfunction of the forum...
As for the elephant in the room...this forum, like the expat Iranian community, like the community of Iranians in Iran are highly dysfunctional. The regime has smeared it's poison everywhere and deep into everything.
We can institute rules like no politics in this forum...but then we couldn't discuss our football either...it is soaked in politics.
What is the way forward? I can say respect and tolerance but being honest it's hard to be tolerant of "non-aligned" Iranians at this pivotal juncture. Deep in my heart I wish that Dennis Eckert plays poorly the rest of his career so that he never represents Iran. Deep in my heart I want GN to stay so that TM continues to lose at major tournaments.
