Read my comment below for my thoughts. I never said TM supporters actively support IR. That is a strawman you are arguing against. You are unwittingly whitewashing the crimes of IR, which is to their advantage. Would you go pay money to watch a show, concert, race, etc. in Saudi Arabia the days after Khashoggi was chopped up by Saudis? If you would, again, I say that even if you're not the biggest supporter of chopping up journalists, you're playing a role in whitewashing such behavior, sweeping it under the rug. You are making a sacrifice for the harsh reality to not disturb the peace entertainment brings you, and that's okay.

I just think it's a lie to explain it as "we are not whitewashing, we are just enjoying football!" Inherently, you are consciously or subconsciously choosing to support the team and this helps IR politically. That is just the reality.
