Supporting Team Melli has always been, for most Iranians, an act of national identity that exists separately from the Islamic Republic. The team represents the people, the culture, the history, not whoever happens to be in power. That distinction matters.

Hold individual players accountable for their individual words by all means. But branding the whole squad as regime agents because of the statements of a few, during wartime no less, exposes your stupidity more than anything else.

I have supported Team melli non stop since 1996 to december 2025, i even supported them in 2022 during the Mahsa Amini uprisings because of exactly what you wrote
