Of course, there are plenty of things the regime and the Iranian people both embrace. If your standard is that anything they both embrace must be rejected, you’ll quickly run out of things that are uniquely Iranian.

Opposing the regime is one thing. We all do. Declaring sources of national pride off limits does nothing to weaken the regime. It hands more of Iran over to it.
Yes you should stop immediately. as I consider you not Iranian nor welcome here. I didnt see you oppose the regime so stop lying.

Iranians lives are not kebab so you better get out of here before I make a kabab out of you. One more bs and you are not here anymore.

weakest comparison, im not gonna explain that.

But for 48 years we have been trying to keep our pride and joy. Tried our best to enjoy Iran including team melli. Unknowingly this also strengthened the regime as it tied it’s core into anything we love. It gave them opportunity and legitimacy.
The absolute best thing for them is that people get behind team melli which will unite Iran (thus the regime).

it’s not black and white but it is how it works.
When people said Iran is backwards we said it is not
when people said Iran is terrorist state we emphasised the great people
when team melli played we made sure persian pride is what makes Iran great.

All of this is in the benifit of what controls Iran. Not the people but the regime.

That gesture is against the killing by the armed rebels known as the M23 movement in east Congo, particularly in Kivu, who is fighting the government of Congo. So no, they are not protesting against the government in charge of Congo who is sending them there to play, and who have total control over their families.

This is not the same thing. Not even close.

For those of you who say what can the players do. Here is Congo's national team to support their people.

Now compare that with teams that choose silence in the face of serious events, showing no visible solidarity with their people. The question is: Is a national team only meant to play on the field, or to represent its people as well? What do you think?". ‎

    Who needs TM right now?

Not to mention Khalilzadeh, Kanaani, Berianvand, Torabi etc's khayemali comments basically bending over for IR.
They have literally been telling us for some time who they really are. Some just refuse to believe them.

that’s what some of us are saying for weeks!! Cheering for team melli will be beneficial to the regime. They use it for their propaganda. People that say: we won’t let them take our football are naive.
They took it and use it, the players are the puppets unfortunately. Just like they took the whole country..

As the old Persian saying goes, "The uglier the monkey, the more tricks it plays."

With antics like shooting gestures toward the stands, hopefully they stick around long enough for the world to get to know this garbage-picked team for what it is.

Thanks for lifting our spirits against the team ranked 85th in the world 🙄 with all due respect to New Zealand.

    We miss Sardar Azmoun!

satisfying knowing that they'll never be in charge of anything beyond their farsh store on westwood boulevard. 3rd worlders.

I for one thought that there would be a lot of people booing and that there would be huge lion and sun flags everywhere. What I saw was some flags, nothing more. I couldn´t make out any particular booing during the national anthem. What I did see was a team holding their hearts and singing the national anthem, fans cheering for their team and a TV broadcast that victimized the players for the treatment from USA/FIFA. Yes there were some discussions, but sports broadcast always tries to separate politics from sports.

To sum it up, the only winner in all of this was the regime. They participated with a loyal team that gained support from neutral fans because of their hate towards USA/FIFA.

Football-wise, lets not even start. Awful.
this! It was never about achieving anything. Iranians cheering for team melli just don’t want to step aside their own joy.
