Watched half an hour of the game.

        They won 2-1.

Egypt lineup was 7-8 starters with Marmoush/Salah not starting.

Nigeria was 5-6 starters with Osimhen, Ndidi, Lookman etc not playing.

Egypt is definitely better than the Arab teams we usually play in AFC. They remind me of a technically improved version of Jordan with fast breaks.

The goal they conceded was a freekick and Nigeria reacting to a rebound faster than their defender.

The rightback Hany has decent emergency slide tackles and the GK El Shenaawy is experienced but not the greatest reaction goalkeeper I have ever seen.

Nigeria had some decent success passing in between the lines in the middle sp Taremi playing in that pocket might help a lot.

I did notice Egypts defending on set pieces is very aggressive. Shirt pulling/tugging/hugging etc. Penalty prone in the right setting.

I dont think their style changes with Salah or Marmoush. The second they get the ball, they try to counter with 1-2s because they have a fast front 3. We cannot afford to let them get isolated with Kanaani or Shoja.

I hope our staff paid for an AFCON subscription

I didn't watch or see any highlights yet, so can't comment on the game itself, but looks we had 6 players I'd want starting our first AFCON match. Our attack will go up a level with Trezeguet, Salah, and Marmoush. We're going to be without our best CB for ACFON unfortunately. He tore his ACL last April vs PSG and has yet to come back for Nice, but hoping he gets enough fitness second half of the season in time for the WC.

Does Hussam AbdelMagid start for Egypt normally?

He doesn't but lately he has been playing more because of our CB injury situation and ever since the manager fell out with Hegazy. I haven't see much of him with the first team but he played well at U20 level.

Was bored so I looked at some different scenarios (before someone replies with doom and gloom, yes I'm aware some of these are extremely unlikely and yes I know we won't make it far).

                1. If by chance we get first place, then we face 1 third place team from the following groups: A, E, H, I, J.
Potential opponents: Italy, Qatar, Ivory Coast, Norway, Jordan

                2. If we get second in our group, then we face the runner of group D.
                Potential opponents:
                USA, Australia, Paraguay

                3. If we get third in our group and we are in the top 8 third place teams, then we face either 1I or 1H.
                Potential opponents: Switzerland and France

Obviously we probably won't make it far, probably group stage elimination if anything. But I will say if by memes we somehow get on path 2 and win our r32, we face Argentina in r16

Los Angeles Iranians can be annoying as F lol. Not all of them of course, but we all know the general L.A. type. We were hoping for different venues, but it makes sense.

Not surprised AT ALL that FIFA decides to have Iran play their first 2 matches in Los Angeles of all places lol. I know L.A. was already scheduled as a possible venue before the draw for Group G, but how lucky are the money makers who will fill SoFi with tens of thousands of L.A. Persians.

Category 1 tickets don't look too bad price wise. Compared to the other games (ex: Mexico opener and other ones) $450-500 is a discount. But still not cheap.

I went to a Club World Cup match with a friend (Juventus vs. Al Ain) in Audi Field last summer. We had great seats. We sat right in the middle (mid-field with a perfect view of the whole match). Our tickets cost $160 each. The thing about World Cup tickets is we won't know where we will sit. I don't know I may or may not go for New Zealand + Belgium matches in L.A.

But is it worth it? I still don't know.

To be fair to him, ever since he joined his team plays much better football and actual won a few games.

Can't tell if this is sarcasm or just your standards are so low after years of Iranian football failure that it doesn't phase you anymore

                              Totally agree for once

Joke aside, I would choose any other young player ahead of him for the WC. Age gharere yeki berine, it's better that it's a youngster that at least get some WC experience instead of ARJ that just hit his own record by having played in 4 WC.
