A 2026 World Cup fixture designated by organisers as an LGBTQ+ 'Pride Match' will feature two countries where homosexuality is illegal.
The local organising committee in Seattle, one of the host cities for the Fifa tournament next summer, have said the match at the city's Lumen Field on 26 June will feature celebrations of the LGBTQ+ community.
The plans were put in place before the teams involved in the fixture were selected or the draw for the 2026 World Cup was made.
And following Friday's draw and Saturday's fixture allocation, it has been confirmed that the game on 26 June in Seattle will be the Group G match between Egypt and Iran.

I am checking TM's recent results, and did anyone notice in our last 6 games, our record is 1 Win, 3 draws and 2 losses in 90 minutes? I'm counting the Cape Verde and Uzbekistan games as draws since they were 0-0 in 90 minutes. How is GN still employed? Did CQ or any of our other coaches have a run of games this bad against such a weak level of opposition in succession? I can't remember. If CQ did, I must have been really biased to not notice. If any other coach had these results I'd expect them to be fired. The fact we sent GN to USA for the draw is a disgrace.
Allowing him to stay TM coach will be the death of our football. We will go out in the group stage of 2026 with a whimper, have no new/young talent to look forward to, and we will be in a dark age for our football. It's very sad that our golden era passed with nothing to show for it. CQ served his purpose, but after 2018, a quality coach was needed to take our team to the next level. Wilmost, followed by Skocic who was decent but not who we needed is why we squandered a golden opportunity in 2022 and we are going to be embarrassed in 2026.
I remember the aberoo rizi I suffered telling my friends to follow 2006 and 2010 world cups and us looking foolish in 2006 and not even qualifying in 2010. I'm not looking forward to being embarrassed again. If IFF has any intelligence, they will fire GN yesterday and bring in someone to try to salvage the team and play a handful of friendlies before June to get us in shape. Cut down the IPL a few weeks so we can have a long camp to prepare the team. Without these drastic measures, I guarantee a 0-0 draw with NZ, a 2-0 loss to Belgium and a 1-0 loss to Egypt. I will actually go and put money on those exact results in Las Vegas if he is the coach in June 2026. No amount of Dennis Eckert or Dennis Rodman can save a clueless coach. Is there any chance Skocic can be brought into TM? I honestly think he will get us out of the group as 2nd. We won't overachieve, but with some luck I actually think we could make Rof16 with someone of Skocic's level given our fairly weak group and potential Rof16 opponent if we finish 2nd.

I knew 2025 was a bad year for TM, but I really just had a chance to look at it all on Wikipedia. Wow, 5 wins out of 12 matches, and the wins were against mostly minnows outside of UAE. We have not beaten Uzbekistan in 3 meetings this year, lost to them once, lost to Qatar, drew against Cape Verde and Tajikistan. I'm watching the YouTube reactions to our group and everyone keeps saying that we are an afterthought in our group, and it makes me upset to hear. Honestly, some of them seem to be following our team closely, and I don't disagree with some of their takes. Egypt is also not in amazing form, but we know that if we're mentally weakened and are not playing with discipline, any tokhmi team like Angola can beat us. Does anyone have an amoo or mafia relationship to Islamic Republic to make the call to have this guy fired? I know Iran is all party bazi, how nobody has swooped in to take this guys job and do a coup in TM against him is astounding. I used to follow TM so closely, but basically boycotted while he's been manager. I will follow closely again once he's fired. Until then, get ready for more yellow and a lot of red coming up in the graph below.
