If I were a football player in iran, I would not stay in Iran this season. There will be another conflict between Iran and the West. I would take my football outside even for less money. But these money-hungry players want to stay in Iran and milk it as long as they can. cheshmeshoon dar biyad when IRI money drops so low that it would be worthless.
    IRI = FAILED

While I agree with the first part, the second part is unrealistic given the group involved. UAE is such an easy place for Iranians to coast for lots of money with a lot of Iranians around.

A killer mentality to go to Europe and try to make it is much harder when it comes to family and life.

Add on top that Iran is a heavily sanctioned country and teams are not lining up to deal with headaches.

Buying a Japanese/Korean/Uzbek player is much less headache and the players realistically are more academy trained than our own.

Plus our clubs treat transfers with foreign teams as a form of coercion and money gouging

True not to mention any Japanese or Korean player a European club buys will most likely be met with a rise in shirt sales and the prospect of tours and merchandise deals. Taking a risk on a Korean or a Japanese player is just so much easier for European clubs than an Iranian and the risks are far lower

for Iranians the low taxi of Dubai is too attractive and most European clubs aren’t going to be able to meet with that imagine if ghoddos moved to Malmö now he’d probably need to half his salary to do so

I know it’s a different team but I saw that Ezatolahi scored against Udinese in a friendly.

they are all a buncha largely over aged, played-out TM vets and unproven youngsters who have little other clearly superior club options..!
seeing el GrandGoozooo General seemingly keen on many of these lot of wankers, it may not be so bad that they all playing in the same club together in run up to WC..!

besides with the all but inevitable 2nd round of war/fighting seemingly on the horizon, if i were a footballer, i would also get the fk outa dodge for at least a year or so ..!

When a Japanese or Korean does well in international football they end up in Europe- when an Iranian does well they end up with an "ajib" transfer

Mohebi scores against north Korea and ends up in the line for itihad kalba

our youth goalkeeper does a man of the match performance v Japan ends up in the Qatari first division

Ghandipour scores an offside goal v japan and ends up in shabab al alhi

Pooladi does a man of the match performance v Argentina and ends up in the thai league

                      It's all so weird

Its tough to swallow but teams don't just buy players for one off performances in the World Cup. How they do in a league is a much better measure of how they do.

Jahanbakhsh crossed out Zabaleta at 19 and did not do anything like that in 11 years time.

When you buy a Japanese player more than likely you know they can trap a ball, shoot on target, cross, pass short, pass long, move off the ball.

None of the above are guarantees from Iranian players

Yup! Consistency is KEY. And we just don't have it. Its not the transfers that are ajeeb, its the players!

yeah very true- also Iranians adaptability playing in Europe is genuinely very poor. Japanese and Koreans are far less likely to suffer homesickness and usually provide a sufficient boost to club shirt sales so even if they’re a bust the clubs can still make money off them- Iranian footballers just don’t have the marketability.

Even looking at Embrahimi in the World Cup he was very good v Morocco and even at 36 absolutely dominated a top Japan side full of euro players but spent most of his peak in the Qatar star leagues

and that game v Japan their centre back who was the worst player on the pitch went on to join a better club after the tournament and the goalkeeper that made like 6 mistakes in the competition went on to transfer to Parma

I still think the over inflated wages of Iran plus the tax free lifestyle of Qatar and uae is an issue- it’s simply too easy and profitable to take the easy route out now . The Ittihad Kalba situation is bordering on ridiculous

and there doesn’t seem to be any real desire from our top players anymore . Ghaedi never seemed interested in Europe at all - Hosseinzadeh was homesick and lacked adaptability, I think these two players are capable of playing in Europe but they enjoy the Middle Eastern lifestyle too much for me to have any hope for them to even if they get offers
