I am not sure under the current regime and this federation any coach can make any meaningful impact in the next 12 months since no attempt has been made in the last 3 years to incorporate younger players into this team to get them ready for a tournament like the WC. Carlos started this process from 2015 to get a decent enough team ready for 2018 using both Asian Cup and friendlies. not really sure how this team going to cope with the retirement of the likes of Azmoun and Taremi and to a lesser extent Jahanbakhsh and Ghodos , this is 2007 all over again, anyone old enough rememeber the post Karimi, Mahdavikia and Hashemian era where we allowed North Korea to qualify over us in the qualifying group for WC2010 ang Mr Newcastle did exactly the same thing he did here in 2007, fielded older players and still got nowhere
