Seyed Ali Nazem: “I think our performance against Bahrain was our best yet. We are improving every day and hopefully, we’ll continue to get better at our game in the coming matches,” said Nazem. “We displayed great teamwork, which led to so many of us scoring.”
“We have complete faith in our technical team, and we will judge how to approach Saudi Arabia based on their analysis, and our job right now is to make sure we’re fit to execute the game plan,” said Nazem, who scored twice on Thursday.
“Winning the next game will also ensure us of a berth at the World Cup, so I am pleased that we dominated the game in the quarter-finals because it will help us be mentally very strong.”
Bahraini striker: “Iran are not only one of the best teams in Asia, but also in the world. They boast exceptionally skillful players who exploited every opportunity throughout the match,” said the number five.

Group A was a bit weird, because the composition was really weak, that is probably why SA could top them.
If you check recent history, relevant team have mostly been Iran & Japan (avg points 2.22) and to some lesser extent Oman & UAE (avg points 2.15), I dont find it very exceptional that Oman won, just the margin seems a bit high. Third tier would be Bahrain and Palestine (avg points 1.65).
From our 12 losses in the Asian Cup, 6 came from Japan and 3 from Oman. We lost to UAE just once - in 2008!
We will win against SA 100% and with that WC qualification is saved, that is good enough for me. In a final anything could happen, but a win specifically against Japan would be really nice to climb the all-time record. We will not be able to surpass them by points this yet though, they are 7 points in front:
