he scored against Entracht Frankfurt (europa league winners) this year - who in team melli has scored against that level of opposition in the last 12 months? other than Jb, Taremi and Azmoun i can't think of anyone.

The level he will be facing in Asia will be lower than that of the Belgian league and at a slower pace - Gucci flopped in Belgium and was still largely positive for TM - if he's integrated the right way he will be a useful addition

Two of TM big problems right now imo… lack of youth and old declining forwards. Eckert is 28 years old and struggling to score with his club. To me this solves nothing.

But there is a 23 year old Iranian in same league who is top 5 G+A. And a 21 year old in Russia with 7 goals. These are more interesting to me.

Eckert is a short term solution for the next world cup/asian cup and will be too old after that. We need should invest in someone like:

1. Kaveh who is young and on the rise with all the right qualities (6'5, tall holding striker)
2. Saharkhizan who is having a great last 2 seasons

We need to also watch out for:
1. Stuckler who had an insane youth record and is now playing on loan in Serie C doing great (His main team is Cremonese, who is top 4 in Serie B).
2. Hashemnejad in Tractor
3. Ghandipour in Malavan

In TM, we have the cool kids gang (Taremi Ezza JB), we have the young bucks (Ghaedi Mohebbi) who are trying to mesh with cool kids, we have the old guard (Shoja Kanani Beiro Mimo Sardar) and lastly the outsiders (Ghoddos Hosseinejad, any young player that gets invited). Eckert will go in the outsider camp. Usually for these mercenary dual national types, they need to have a really high level of play to succeed in the team and Eckerts play is not good enough compared to Ashkan or even Ghoddos to cement himself at the team. TM culture is one of hierarchy and envy so I don’t believe he will ever fully integrate.

I say it’s better to keep hopes and expectations low.

I guess he will be with Ghoddos and JB who will help building bridge with the rest of the squad
