Bro delivered the assist to the game winner on a soft down-filled pillow. Frattesi couldnt' believe his fricking eyes it was so neatly placed. Frattesi actually hesitated in taking the shot he was so shocked at how perfect it was. Meanwhile Mehdi is just sitting back watching, knowing he gave him the game-winner. What a class act. What a clutch player. He has delivered over and over for every coach who has placed his trust in him. Really proud of him tonight. Can't wait to see him next month in the Club World Cup (I'll be at the Urawa match in Seattle)!!!!

no arguments on him having terrible year. But there are contributing factors. I think in terms of quality he has shown in the cL games (city, Arsenal, other group games, now Barca) he is at the level required.

i hope these last 2 matches, the final, and final few in league are enough to convince inzaghi to give him another chance next season.

it was more about the whole sequence. Just showed he has a very good sense of space. His pass was indeed simple but it took 4 Barca defenders to the wrong direction.

What I really liked from him was all the times he killed the Barca play making by winning the ball though grit and tenacity.

he was out of form but his CL pedigree confirms that he can indeed contribute at this level. What he actually lacks is not much on technical/physical side to be in lauta/thuram bracket but on mental side. Those guys miss chances and dont give 2 shits. Taremi in his bad form streak that legitimately lasted a few months (not talking about in front of goal, but rather as you reference when his overall game went out the window) looked like he was still thinking about missed chances from weeks prior. Now this never happened to him in porto, but pressure at inter is not comparable. For younger guys it would typically take a season at least to adjust sometimes and that would be fine. Issue for him is his age comes with an expectation that mentally/emotionally he would be sound. When you talk about correa/arna starts the reason is not bc they are rated more (as we see tonight - both rooted to bench) the reason was rather taremi head was gone. Inzaghi wants to use him and clearly rates him (just listen to pressers) but as you say he made that impossible for several weeks bc of how timid he was playing.

But he has definitely turned the corner, And all confidence related, as we can see. The barca performance in 1st leg brought him back to life.

And now he has a chance to make history and redeem his whole season.

The mental component is so huge. Literally teh day before the game, a woman who I think had been threatening him with harassment claims released a bunch of videos and info. Yet Thuram showed up and played half injured - made tons of mistakes, and no one says anything.

Imagine if that happened to an Iranian player?

This CL encounter will be a forever semifinal classic and Mehdi provided the game winning assist against Barcelona in overtime and had Yamal in his pocket.
