Iran vs uzbekistan post match discussion

Amir. CHalehmeydooni showed again he has no knowledge of the game. His subs and tactics in 2nd half showed he is clueless. He made uzbekistan look like Germany.
Officiating was biased again with stupid arab ref for tm game. Early penalty on taremi not called
why is gholizadeh not invited is he injured?
they say 2nd half is coaches half. Chalehmeydooni showed he is far worse than skocic.
kanaani, torabi and ezatt were not at their level.
    our best player was sardar.
saman was playing well before the injury. Taremi milad and ramin were also very good.
    ali karimi was useless
    cheshmi also
    mehrdad also terrible
this result and performance was a wake up call.
all this bs talk about us being contenders for asian cup.
I dont have any hopes with chalehmeydooni as our coach but as a true fan will continue to support our team. What a waste of taremi sardar ramin who are playing extremely well.

He was outcoached. Simple as that. I watched 2nd half in glimps, all I saw was bezan ziresh football.

Good 1st half, bad 2nd half. Should have subbed in Hosseinnejad for Ghoddos instead of Karimi.

This is what happens when we decide to play defensive football. We already had this BS for 10 years under that good for nothing CQ. Hope GN learns his lesson.

You would think our defenders know how to chip a ball over a player's head to our wide open wingers but no they decide to sky the ball vertically in the sky and see how much hangtime the ball can get....

Game of two halves obviously because Ghoddos went out, but I would fancy half of our member's chances against Karimia and Ezatolahi if you are fast enough to run between them.

Uzbeks filled the midfield just as predicted and we paid dearly for it. After today, Karimi is not the answer wayy too slow. We need someone of Ghoddos ability type to play next to Ezatolahi, not a physical body but someone who has passing range and speed to press.

It looks like we are dead on for a SK QF exit in Asian cup at this rate.

Only saving grace is Hong Kong and Turkmenistan are equally **** so as long as we beat Turkmenistan next matchday we can make some space to test some younger players and fill our army of Lizzo size gaps in the midfield.

This draw (feels like a loss) is completely down to the shit coaching. Every sub was ineffective, and brought on more pressure onto our team. Therefore it is purely on the coach. Look at the difference, the Uzbek coach changed the plan, calmed the team and made only Correct decisions.

Ghoddos injury collapsed our midfield, then the Uzbek high press put pressure on our players. And our “coach’s” response was to Bring on every slow
Player we had on the bench, and employ Bezan ziresh football and pray time would speed up and they’d stop pressuring us.

Torabi didn’t have one effective dribble and stayed on. Mohebi didn’t make one correct pass and stayed on until the injury. Azmoun got taken off for Cheshmi when we actually needed to increase our offense to ease the pressure. Kanaani lost his temper and as always never gained it back. Both Mohammadi brothers continue to show that other than being able to sprint, they have zero to contribute. And lastly, most importantly, the most useless player to put on a TM shirt, with an insult to the name of Ali Karimi. How This guy has managed time and time again to be called up, while not once performing is mind blowing.

Ghoddos and Taremi were our entire team, and Ramin was our only offensive threat on the right side. Shame on the coach

Defensive football with even slower players.
As much as we crap on JB recently, from a speed perpsective he is at least good for modern football.
Howver, I don't know what a central triangle of Cheshmi, Ezatollahi and Ali Karimi is good for except watching paint dry.

Iranian coaches need to understand, we are not in wrestling matches. Yes we have lots of physically strong players, but we need some speed too.

Good starting line up by GN and some very nice TM play in that first hafl.

Ghodoos got injured and GN began his fruitless idea of slow defensive sub after the other.

The 2nd half performance is on GN.

I think Ezatollahi is a good ball winner, but he needs a dynamic playmaker type (like Ghodoos) by his side to stand out.
The other players that came in (the bad Karimi, Cheshmi,...) are just really poor versions of him.

There was a complete submission of the middle of the field to Uzbekistan, and it wasn't like Uzbekistan was playing some sort of new never before seen tactic.
It was just clear you can pass around our CM turtles and get through quickly.

Defensive positioning was very poor. Kanaani and Rezaeian were out of position often.

After GN, the CMs are to blame for one of the worst TM performances in recent history.

Taremi, Torabi, Azmoun, were ok and showed how efficient they can be. The more they're involved the better we are. Unfortunately they got minimal service from garbage midfield.

                  Need Ghodoos back quickly.

We also don't have time for CM alternatives to be seasoned vets. We need to try anyone young and upcoming and see if they can handle it instead of trying the usual failures.

The problem always has been Ezatolahi, left back, and CB pairing of two players who peaked in Qatar.

No, I don't care that Ezatolahi has occasional clutch moments. He is consistently bad. What is his role? Defense? Distribute? He can't do any of that. Our whole midfield needs to be thrown into garbage can and re-thought. Ghoddos is what Ezatolahi SHOULD be like.

Call up Jalali for left back. Play Allahyar there or something, I don't know. Haj Safi and Milmo have been consistently a gap in defense, one lacks speed and the other lacks everything but speed.

Kanaani and Shoja are too up in their own ass. For all that we shit on PAG, at least he stuck to his zone and left the drama out. Let's give Hazbavi a chance. Majid is also rotting on bench.

We always complain about ARJ this, and Mohebi that, but the real ISSUE is our backline and CDM. Those players are avg on a worse day. These players are avg on their best day.

Haven't seen the game, but reading the comments I suspect the usual cowardly tactics of trying to defend for dear life didn't work out (like it never did under any coach, cause almost did doesn't count).

Come on guys, give just a tiny bit of credit to the Uzbek coach and team. They adjusted, increased the tempo, and flooded the midfield. Looks like they had studied the individuals on TM and knew how to neutralize them when it counted. They salvaged a point at home.

More than anything else, the Iranian players need psychological help. Once Uzbeks took control, TM players seemed to turn it off and wait for the game to end. Mental resilience should be a selection criterion for TM.

We wont be able to field a XI if we have that as a criterion.

Full credit to Katanec and Uzbekistan but thats the minimum any team does in preparation.

What was our teams plan prior to the game when studying them? Just assume they'll field a random XI of Turkmen looking players? Did we even know which of their players were good?
