This is ridiculous. AFC approves the venue and all of the visible things related to the venue (banners, tifos, grass, sponsors, etc, etc) considerably in advance. Soleimani's (frankly weak artistic effort) bust has been sitting there for years, its not like sepahan tried to pull a quick one on everybody. If anybody had an issue they could have pointed it out long ago, why wait 10 mins until kick off... We have been playing with Sheikh Hamal and Dayus face at every away game in arab land for the past decades and never say anything, there is team called alqadisiya in QSL and we never complained. Furthermore, they play every time in our stadia with khomeini and khamenei pics up there as out of place as ever and had no problem...
To me it seems like usual arab bazi. Benzema was out, the atmosphere was insane and they bitched out. Whats new.Comment

Whatever the reason for their hissy fit, it gave Esfahanies a chanceto vent their anger at IR. Yes the statue was there for years, and no it shouldn't be....at least by popular demand.
The audience seemed to blame IR and the AFC will be blaming IR too, I reckon.
