FIFA released the Pots and draw protocols.

The 4 Euro playoff teams and two intercontinental teams will be in Pot 4.

A few notes to take from the draw rules.

1) EVERY group must have 1 European team.

2) Max of 2 European teams per group

3) Iran cannot be with another Asian team

4) Iran will not be playing the first game vs the hosts if we will be drawn into their groups.

5) Iran CANNOT be grouped with the Intercontinental playoff bracket of Suriname/Bolivia/Iraq.

Seriously doubt it happening. US team is better than they were 4 years ago and the hosts usually get a "FIFA" advantage when it comes to reffing.

It would be hilarious yes but we(Iran) are a R32 or bust kind of team this year. Get a win and maybe a tie if our group is easy enough and then lose comfortably in the next round is our cap IMO

US is definitely better than us. Like you said, Even bigger Gap between us and them this time.

I agree we need an easy group and still some luck as well just to advance to round of 32.

With the new format, it won’t be an achievement until we win at least 1 game in the round of 32.

In spite of our team’s poor shape, I don’t think gheyrat or “turning up” against a superior opponent will help us. We barely have players in Europe now, that’s gonna hurt us.

but even if we draw say against Curacao - the crowd will most likely be against us as they love the underdog

and still we have conceded against so many poor teams the last year - every nation at this world cup has free reign against us really

our most talented defender Zare can't even get into the team

our defence is full of people who are too old one of him has committed age fraud same with our goalkeeper - we are just so bad defensively - i dont see how that improves in the next 6 months

we even looked poor against hong kong, afghanistan - if we can't defend against them then how much hope can we really expect to do well against say a panama or new zeland who have technically better players
