no day is too late for salvation, brother. glad you've joined the brotherhood
another thing. with due respect, I personally dont think CQ is by far the most high profile or profficient or famous coach we've had since Ofarrel.
lets not forget in 2001 we hired the fourth ranked coach (Blazevic) in the 98 WC. and I doubt we've ever come close to such a high ranking coach.
It's a different matter if most of us like Ivic more than Ciro. but hard and cold stats say Ciro was our highest venture. certainly above what CQ's.
disclaimer: this is NOT a criticism of CQ, btw. before some ppl jump to conclusions

I for one believe, if the system changes.....Our football will get worse, not better, for some time......
The issue of negative influence of our system on our football is very complex......as islamic republic treats football ( and movie making,or any other propaganda machines ) differently.......it might be hard to believe, but islamic republic acctualy has gone out of its way,to make our football ' The best ' in the world ( or so they believe ).......Football in our system would have had far less budget and far less attention and help , had it not been a propaganda machine.......which while it may be good for long run proffessional football, but very bad in short term......
...
So, our football is a very complex phenamyna, and dynamic, and so many vareables influence it,most even contradictory.........and non of them is natural !........the only constant TM can possibly have to create an ac****ebility and some minimal consistancy.....is the head coaching job...........
so for all reasons above.......head coach of TM , is " practicaly " ( and that is the key word )..,the most important " Link " for our National team perfomance.Last edited by zzgloo; 08-04-2011, 09:25 AM.

INteresting Debate
We have 4 different coaches vying for the title of the highest profile coach that served with Team Melli.
O'Farrel , Ivic , Ciro and Queiroz.
I guess , before we decide a winner , we need to define the requirement of what a High Profile coach entails.
I don't want to side track from the original topic , but it does open a very interesting argument indeed.
I don't think think there is much doubt on the winner of the other end , the lowest profile..

I believe as Maij Jan said, we need to define how we base our ratings.
Fabio Cappello never reached a World Cup semi-finals, but I rate him higher than Ciro based on his performance in Serie A and Championsleague titles won.
Carlos Alberto Pareira won the world Cup with Brazil, but I rate Ottmar Hitzfeld higher than him.
while I do respect your point of view and accept that "likability" should not count in ratings, I do believe oppinions will differ in selecting the criteria!
However, I feel its safe to say, as you pointed out earlier, that Ciro and Ivic were among the best we ever had! for sure!CHECK OUT OUR FORUM RULES HERE: http://www.persianfootball.com/forums/faq.php

past resume is fine...but acctual success and adaptation is what count the most.............
I do not believe, even Sir Feguson, would and could be as successful as " Luka " has been with Sepahan , and in IRAN in general.....
Most that counts, is not how much you know, or how much you have done in the past, although neccessary,.....it is all how much you adapt, and get result with all limitations........
All these forign coaches got thier resume on ideal situations......and such situation does not exist in third world countries ,and defenetly not in IRAN....
The best forign coaches whom had success in IRAN ;
1- Rykov.
2-Branko.
3-Luka.
Eastern Europeans, appear to have had a thicker skins..........and I hope, QC is an exception.Last edited by zzgloo; 08-06-2011, 07:45 AM.

In last couple of thousands years, there was a measurement invented for evaluation.
It's called "MONEY"
If some thing is higher quality. It's more expensive and people are willing to pay more.
mmm, let's rank our coaches based on their salary then.
Cheers,
