How strong is IPL?

TM is Asia's second best team according to FIFA ranking. Looking at the last tournaments and qualifications we are definitely in the top 4.

How about IPL? Is the standard of our league really as good as the one of TM?

Consider the Iranian club's results and performances in AFC competitions of the last years.

What could be done to improve it? More foreign coaches? More foreign players?

I'd be interested in your inputs!

I guess it's hard to ask a question like how strong is IPL; one would have to say in which aspect. There are multiple facets which need to be addressed.

I think the GOOD teams are very good, just look at the bayern-pp game. Unfortunatly, there is a huge gap between top and bottom. For example, a top team in the ipl can compete with any team in the world. A bad team in the ipl cannot even compete with a bad english, italian, or german team.

everytime a good player is poped out in IPL, they soon go to Arab leagues....
I mean I could understand if u have a resonable offer from even turkey's league, but arab s league
that itself is the first thing that causes damage to our league
look at these players and imagine if they were in our own league...

The truth is that our tm is not a " tafteye joda bafte" It is stemming from our IPL and the root of how IPL is inbeded in what IRI stands to be! These are all the same if you look at things proportionally.

Our infrastructure is missing. By that I do not mean the footbal fields , coaches, balls, physiotherapists, etc...
For me the basic infrastructure is the right vision and plan to achieve a reasonably set goals.
Much work is needed to set the seed right and we are too far off of the right track. The thoughts, work and the dollar is spent on the second stage before the first stage is set right. Coaches players, fields, etc. are all very important pieces of te puzzle but they can't be attended to properly when the first brick is laid wrong.
imho the first brick is the right thought process and vision to set reasonably achievable goals.

We the fans who watch the IPL every week grow fond of it, but the reality is that the league isn't really too special in terms of quality. There certainly are a few outstanding talents which come along every so often, but sadly as pointed out, they get snapped up by UAE teams.

I think the problem with the IPL is obviously a huge defecit in sufficient funds and proper investment. This is evident in the state of the pitch, staff, infrastructure, e.t.c of many teams. The English Premiership only really became a world class league in the early 90's when Sky T.V bought the rights to sell games on satellite. This resulted in a massive influx of cash to the clubs for broadcasting rights, and the league improved in every way. Sadly, I don't think such a scenario could ever occur in the IPL as many people wouldn't even be able to afford such luxuries as pay-per-view satellite T.V.

There are many players in the IPL with great potential, but without the appropiate structures in place their full potential may never be realised. Foreign managers of sufficient quality may go some way to bringing fresh ideas but there should be a limit on the number of foreign players.

We are somewhat blessed to have such a strong national team on the back of a relatively weak domestic league. So long as the legionnaires keep the Iranian flag flying high in Europe's finest leagues hopefully TM will remain at this high standard and go on to improve.

this I have to say I agree with 100% we should only go and play for teams out side of asia and africa so that our players can become better not worse then they are.
but at the same time we must open up schools, work on our kids from young ages, make more fields, make people that come to see the games pay $$ to see it not just for free, make the clubs we have move to citys that don't have a club taem not put 6 clubs in Tehran, make sure we have a real coach with each club, use all our players not keep some of them off the field for most of the year, allow IPL game to go on when the TM is playing some other country not to stop all IPL game as we do now, pay our player on time not 6 months down the road va va va va va .......
if we do this then we can have a good leage that wil become a power house in asia.

I put Arab Nations like UAE, Qatar, Saudi and East asian nations like Japan, Korea, China, even Malaysia and Singapore above IPL.

Iran has 60 million population with alot of footballers. No other country in Asia has this bedrock of street football players. But I am afrai relying solely on this will not be good enough for the future.
Today, countries "build" pro footballers out of nothing using the best facilities and training.

I like to offer my two cents here too,as this is a complex issue.......it is just like asking,what we need in Iran to be closer to european countries as far as democrecies,budget,and all standards.....and obviously there are hundreds of reasons....and it is a dynamic issue......some answers are wishful thinking ,some impossible,and some for very far future.........but, there may be some answers that are doable with currant situation in Iran......

City of Gorgan,has had one basketball stedium for about 30 years now with international standards, and just because of that, the women basketball of gorgan and men basketball of Gorgan have always been strong in Iran and presented very good talents....and in my opinion, just because of that stedium............while other cities either still do not have any facilities or just recently got one.........
the other issue,is the point Branko made,regarding Iranian players not to be good kickers and not to be good finishers,as he suggested,since there has been very little football fields with standard grass fields, Iranian players,have had problems,running with football and kicking from longer distances with accuricies....
Also, the 70 million population , and 70% of wich youth,and mostly haveing nothing to do but football,could defenetly use more top,standard football fiels.

beside rich countries, countries such as Brazil, south americans,Mexico, etc....although not so rich, yet,they have more green nature, and finding a smooth grass is not so hard, as in Iran, beside a absence of green, we do not even have smooth dirt fields, as Iranian gyology is mostly rock !!!

solution: Privatization!

We need not reinvent the wheel. What are European clubs and most successful clubs
around the world doing? How many of them are fully government funded and controlled?

owning a business in Iran is different than other places, and specialy a big business...which with all mafia and governement control....and choob la charkh.....it will either not grow,or will be semi-governemental.
